Hello to all of you who are more tech savvy than me (which is almost all of you),

I am so frustrated with the continuous updates of DCS that create almost as many issues as are solved that I've decided to download 2 copies of the game on my hard drive in 2 separate folders.  I'm planning on using a somewhat dated version for single player since I'm generally happy with how it runs.  In order to do MP however, I'm planning on keeping a second version up to date.  The question I have is, is there a way I can use the key and controller bindings (that I have spent so much time customizing) from the older version in the new version?  In other words, can I have it reference the already existing config file, do I need to copy & paste it somehow, or do I need to start from scratch?  Attached is my folder structure.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You can just use the single Saved Games folder, in whichever copy you are running just go to load profile and open the relevant file from the config folder, although It should actually pick up the existing settings as both games will be using a single Saved Games folder.

I tend to save a set of my own profiles and they are located in the InputUserProfiles folders so kind of a back up for me.

If you do save your own profiles make sure you save for keyboard, throttle and joystick separately as they are individual entries.

As noted above, both installs should load settings from that single Saved Games folder of yours by default without any extra activity.

That being said, I'm not sure they will do it correctly. How old is your older DCS going to be? When 2.9.5 landed, it caused some control bindng issues for me and many others (the infamous "red exclamation mark" issues), forcing me to re-bind a couple of controls. Which means your older diff.lua files you tweaked for that "dated" DCS might not work 100% in the latest one (and vice versa). You'll just have to see if that's the case with two separate old & new installs. Trial / error method and all.

If problems do occur, it's still possible to just create a separate Saved Games / DCS folder (with separate controls), utilizing dcs_variant.txt file. Haven't done it myself, but scroll down for relevant instruction in SkateZilla's guide thread:
