Is it released already? I can only find the ".22" build. Do you have a link?

The article says "early next week" which is this week. Nothing more.

Ahh, confused that. Sorry. Too excited. 😅

You can use the weekly builds right now. The RC build is going to differ from the build that preceeds it by very little, to put it in layman's (my) terms.

I use portable archives so I can just delete and replace them. I wish we had an autoupdate for FreeCAD and Blender on Windows.

Yeah, I‘m using 0.22 for a while now, which repaired some urgent issues regarding changing parameters along the build tree. However, I have some stability and performance issues - So I urgently hope for improvements with the RC.

Check out issues "Needs confirmation" occasionally. Maybe you could help by confirming, with details.

In the same way you can filter the issues with "RC blocker" 😉

Dude, I don't know what issue you reported but RC is not happening! 😉

Cool! Thanks for the heads-up!

This entire project and not a single crash/project blocker. At one point I even:

1. Deleted all extrusion (pad) operations leaving the original sketch.

2. Re-done the 3 main extrusions within a minute.

3. With the enclosure pretty much ready I modified some features of the original sketch and the entire 3D model updated accordingly.

Best 1.0 improvement of all - selective Sketch extrusion / multiple extrusions from a single sketch!

New FreeCAD Feature! Complex Extrudes from a Single Sketch Like in SolidWorks - YouTube —

I had some "FreeCAD moments" as well...

Each time I need to select a loop I need to do it segment by segment. Selected wrong segment and want to de-select. Screw you, I'm FreeCAD, start over! 🙂

I did the revised FFB mod for the V3 crosswinds with FreeCAD 1.0. No problems (stability) at all. Quite an improvement in topology related problems (or lack thereof) as well.

But of course, some quirks in the user interface still.

A price I am willing to „pay“ for open software!

Have you started a topic on that project?

Not here, you find it in the VPforce Discord (it‘s based on the motor-kits and software of the VP Rhino)

I see... Maybe one day. Aand I dislike Discord for that very reason.

I‘m not a fan of discord either. But all the community and support around the Rhino is there, so for this special case it is the best place to get information.

You can start from here (if interested): Vpforce.eu

I'm grinding my way through FreeCAD.

Battling with the poor readability of the default Sketcher view (some weird font outline, lines too thick...) I stumbled upon a signature of this guy

A comprehensive lecture on sketcher! Reaaallly sweet, in several languages - English, auf Deutsch, en français, en español.

Apart from that - how do you get along with the 1.0?
I'm starting to get more fluid with it - learned some lessons on my part (don't be lazy on naming your steps) as well that improved my workflow.

Thanks for the link!

It's hard for me to respond to. Each simple thing I do in FreeCAD I accomplish with bare minimum knowledge to do so. I barely started with 0.21 and made literally only one simple model.

With simple models you mainly spend time in the Sketcher and it just so happens the 1.0 improvements make it much easier to use.

Tu put it differently, for months from now and many new makes I'm going to have to constantly reach for the references on the very basics, over and over.

Which workbench are you using in the first place?

Normally you just highlight (click) the face you want to sketch on and select new sketch.

Usually the best starting point is the parametric part workbench.

Part design, and it was a hiccup. It works for me now. Now I have this gizmo to deal with 🙂
