fixed for next update Very frustrated with mission 2

I have completed every free campaign in the user files section including the one included with the Hornet. I have no problem flying or using the advanced systems, but I've reached a point where I dont know what else to try.. something as SIMPLE as Mission 2... basic, straightforward. First, my wingman takes FOREVER to takeoff. I've tried waiting, taking off first, taking off almost same time (but never taking off AFTER him) in all cases when I reach the tanker and contact it I get the 2, your turn. BUT NEVER asking me to refuel.. I WANT to refuel. So, both times I've tried (not refueling as the mission wont let me) so I proceed to WP 4 as fragged. and my wingman SIMPLY dissapears... not shown in any map, radar NOTHING. Have anyone tried this campaign lately??? I just got it. Its my first PAID campaign after playing ALL the free ones and to be honest despite all the good things people say about this campaign I find it hard to believe I'm the only one experiencing this. Something changed probably recently that is breaking at least mission 2. I've tried it 7 times already and I'm about to give up

It's probably the AI or infrastructure changes ED has been making.  It's been a constant battle since day 1. I love this campaign WHEN it works. I cannot fault Baltic for this,  he has been responsive and tries his best to fix what he can. 

This might be frustrating to hear,  but I would skip the mission and move onto mission 3 to see if you can make headway.  I know you'll miss out on some story items,  but I'd hate for you to not enjoy what you can out of this great campaign

@bojote I am very sorry you feel like this and yes, it looks like the background AI doing tricks, likely due to upcoming changes with the taxi directors.. lately three successive patches broke this mission three times and we spent hours trying to make it work again and I think it should be working fine as of next patch (fingers crossed nothing else gets broken by it). I understand your frustration and trust me, mine is even bigger when things that used to work flawlessly suddenly stop with every other patch... but that's part of DCS life cycle, hopefully we'll get these things sorted out shortly.

Thanks! i really appreciate your message. It clearly seems to be something completely out of your control. I’ll rather wait until its fixed as I really don't want to skip any missions. In the meantime I’ll start the book and stop once I feel its at the mission 2 or 3 stage (based on the briefings it seems to be chapter 5)

The good news @bojote is that we have M2 and M3 internally fixed and working for next update (should be next week, but who knows). I just hope it doesn't break them again.

Adding to this post (which maybe you've already fixed), but I can't even get to the tanker with Smoke. Like the OP said, I ALWAYS take off before him, but for some reason when we get to waypoint 1, he turns E when we're supposed to turn W. Then he does like a circuit back to the boat it looks like. 

Also another note, my waypoint sequences look all screwy. I watched a video on YouTube of someone playing Raven One, and there's match the briefing. See the attached screenshot

I'm sorry to add more on - maybe I'm just an idiot and I'm doing it wrong, but I skipped Mission 2 and went to Mission 3. I head towards Padres and climb up to Exxon. Smoke is following me the whole way. When we get to the tanker, I hear audio says "4-2, you go first". I see smoke move up closer to the tanker, but then he just stops and sits there off the back of the left wing of the tanker. I waited and he didn't refuel. So I snuck in ahead of him and, well, that's where I just paused the mission, so I'll see what happens. But I have to image I didn't do something right, like I was in the wrong position or something (I tried two spots - one back and to the right of the right drogue, and then one in formation off the left wing of smoke, but further back to give him room to refuel). So I dunno. I'm a private pilot IRL but I was never in the military and have very little understanding of military flying procedures. Kinda just winging it and learning as I go,

nullYou sequence is perfect. 1 is the carrier, 2 the point where you issue the radio message (happens automatically and simply says you are climbing angels xx) 3 is the point where the tanker starts it orbit, across the dotted lines in a racetrack pattern and with some considerable lateral separation, so you should look for the tanker with TACAN and A/A radar. 4 is your anchor point (you orbit it) 5 is BULLSEYE. Numbers in my image do NOT represent the actual waypoint number, just a way for me to identify them.

Both M2 and M3 should work fine as of next patch, unless the patch itself breaks something new (which happened a few times already). Fingers crossed it does not though!

So happy to hear this! I was just about to ask about M2 as Smoke won't even follow me all the way to WP1. He just turns right and orbits the task force, though once he did suddenly decide to come an refuel when I'd finished before randomly ejecting. LOL Looking forward to trying again when  the update occurs.

So I need to know: Am I missing something or it Mission 2 still broken? Smoke now takes off and follows me to the tanker, and the refueling goes fine. After he's tanked he rejoins on my wings and we head off merrily to WP4. As we get there we check in with MAGIC, but as soon as they reply with "Roger, continue" Smoke rolls right, dives for the deck and buggers off back to the fleet, where he proceeds to orbit the carrier at 2000ft and 300 knots at a range of 10 miles. I've tried anchoring at WP for another hour (Left AP on and watched some Netflix) but nothing else ever happened.

So, is it me and something I'm doing/not doing, or is it broken?

 

EDIT: Never mind. Just saw the other post explaining that M2 and M3 didn't get into the latest patch for some reason.
