this i don't understand :(

How to export: When exporting the .rn file, the name of the .max file MUST be the name of the airfield that you are moving/ creating. For example, if you are creating a new airfield and you want to replace the anapa airfield, your .max file MUST be name anapa.max otherwise it will not work.

When exporting, you must select the parts you want to export. Only parts that you select will be exported. It is very important to only select .sup things when exporting the .sup file. Similarly, it is very important to select .rn things when exporting the .rn file. Failure to do this will either result in export errors or the results not working in game.

What is helpful to do, is save all the .rn items into a separate .max file and save all the .sup items into another .max file. This way you can simply select all items and not have to worry about selecting both types when exporting.

How to now what is .rn and what is .sup file from existing airfield ? how to now to select .rn and .sup file??? any picture will be good help, PLS:)

Hi what about that :

We are now working on a new set of terrain tools, which will support some new terrain technologies planned for DCS: A-10C

Is the future tools will be compatible with the terrain what we made...?

Is there a date or relaese of this tools and what are features ?

The new tools untilize new formats so I don't think the new tools will work for old stuff. I have no idea on any release date. The tools do the same features as the current ones, but support the newer file formats.

For those who are having problems with the AssembleScenes.exe, I should have a solution shortly.

I'm waiting for new scenery tools from Eagle D.

In your LHTL.wmv file, I can see the joining lines between 10x10 km textures...

I think ED can solve this in future version.

I have strange problem

when I try to convert tiff files (in GlobMaper v 10.01) for 3DMax Displacements - result is binary image, only black and white color. All settings like in tutorials.

Your problem is the bad format of GEOTIFF.

If you export your Elevation TIFF, you need select the 16bit version !!!

Yes, I know this, in setting exactly 16-bit, but result, anyway, binary tiff-image...

Sorry about the delay, I have been quite busy lately. Did you try applying it with the displace modifier in max anyways? my Geotif files will no show up in Photoshop correctly. They appear solid black. However they work fine in 3ds max. Can you upload or link me to the exact file that you are trying to use from that previous link that you gave?

I tried, but result is - terrain surface is not displaced.

link for original tiff-file

UPD: Thx for help, but I found a way to get terrain-mesh in Max without displayce. just use ED-script for Max, more easy way.

Maybe try a different DEM source then?

I used the link you gave me and it worked. Can you list your steps?

lucky, thx, all works correct.

I have a question - in tutorial about displace-modificator, shown strength-parametr = 75000m. why exactly 75000? I suppose if make nonNevada terrain(like in tutors) strength should be different and instance from geography...

Posted

I believed we needed 75000 as the magic number to make the strength of the displacement match the scale that the game uses. The DEM's that we used were such a high resolution, that it would crash the maxscript when we tried to use it. That is why we had to use the displace method. If you use the displace method, you would need to use 75000 as well to maintain the correct scale
