ECV56_Finger
Hi Guys, I´m a completely noob on the terrain stuff in DCS, but I´m a quick learner so bare with me for a second :D I just started with a project with the Islas Malvinas/Falkland Islands. As an Argentinean it´s kind of an obvious choice for me, and for the record it´s not my intention to bring any political bullshit into de community, just want to start a project that really meant a lot to us over here. I started with the amazing tutorial that I found in the wiki page, and already found my first problem. As the tutorial said, I went to this link to get the textures (RGB + High Res) and also the DEM file. http://glcfapp.glcf.umd.edu:8080/esdi/index.jsp The problem that I found it´s that the zone that I want to work on it, it´s separated in several files, five to be precise. It´s not really a big deal since for textures I can merge them with Photoshop, but I´m having problems with the DEM files since they are pretty much "invisible" in PS, so there´s no way that I can put them together using visual clues. Is there any way (program or webpage) that I can download the entire thing in one single file? Or at least a way to merge several DEM files together with some degree of precision? I tried downloading the file from Global Mapper as I saw in the video tutorial, but it´s telling me that it´s going to take some 47 hours in downloading the DEM file for that zone! Any advice will be appreciated, since I got stucked before I can start with it! Thanks in advance. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ECV56_Finger
Well, I´m an idiot. If a throw all the DEM files inside Global Mapper, they automatically align correctly. I leave the question in there, just in case someone else have the same problem. Sorry about that! Just in case anyone need another link, I download the DEM files from here and so far they are working like a charm. http://srtm.csi.cgiar.org/SELECTION/inputCoord.asp [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Playable without 64bit version, possible not. For Nevada I have about 1.1TB of data for it. When are the new tools going to be released? Unknown as they are still being developed. 1 Nevada map contributer EDM Modeling tools FAQ: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1418067&postcount=1 Seo libh a chairde is chanadh liom. trujillostm
Hello Luckybob9. Can you say me how to merge roads, rivers, trees and buildings on my .max file? What files I need and the tools.
luckybob9
Merging all those files into a single file is a bad idea. MUCH MUCH harder to export because you need to only select certain types when exporting. Buildings need to be exported in .sup or .sc Runways are exported into .rn Roads are exported into .rn2 Trees are exported as part of the .sc To export into these formats you need the public 3ds max 2008 tools. A program called Assemblescenes.exe is used to take all of these files and create a .scn file. I am testing public release of Assemblescenes.exe with Batou Nevada map contributer EDM Modeling tools FAQ: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1418067&postcount=1 Seo libh a chairde is chanadh liom. trujillostm
To run AssembleScene.exe, we need the Flaming Cliffs 1. I think ED could create a downloadable file with all necesary to run and create the scenery. Update: 1. AssembleScene.exe runs in FC1.12b. 2. I need the files: msvcp71d.dll and msvcr71d.dll in root FC2 folder. Edited August 24, 2010 by trujillostm
BS_Fighter
Now I have also created the first new island for first tests. I can introduce ground textures and objects here also without problems. How do I get now on this island, however, an airbase to be able to approach this also or to make it usable for AI?
luckybob9
First, you need to locate it in the map. 0,0 in max corresponds to the middle of crimea i think? I am not certain. To figure this out, import the stock .lsa2 file. To make airfields, look at the example files, then modify it to fit what you want is the best way to start out. BS_Fighter
A new base to be created is no problem. How I can select this then, however, in the editor for a start with my Aircraft or AI Aircrafts? They AI Aircrafts start and land still with the old coordinates of the Anapa base although this there any more exists.
