Boomer74 Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 I recently got the TopGun MIP's and installed them. I set them up in Windows and SimApp Pro. However, every time I start DCS, the right DDI, and only the Right DDI, turns off, then on, like a glitch. When that happens, it throws everything out of whack. The DDI's aren't setup anymore, and it even screws with my audio in my headset and SRS. I can ALT-TAB out of DCS and quickly reset it without leaving the game, but it is a real pain in the ass, especially during carrier landings, A2A refueling and night ops. This happens several times a session. I've look through the forums and can't find anyone that has had this problem. I've uninstalled/re-installed SimApp, tried different cables, etc. but it keeps happening. Any ideas?
rob10 Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 Double check that you have the SLEEP function for your USB ports turned off (or that Windows hasn't turned them back on if you have turned them off before). Are you running it direct to computer USB or through a hub? Could be a power issue if it's direct or you're not using a powered hub. Sounds like somewhere it's disconnecting the RDDI. Also check that all the cables into the back of the DDI are fully inserted. It's possible you have a dud DDI too. Try swapping the port you're plugging that one into with one of the other ones and see if it still happens with the problem DDI or starts happening with the new one plugged into that port. That should help determine if it's the port or the WW hardware that's at fault.
Boomer74 Posted September 12, 2024 Author Posted September 12, 2024 Where would I find the "sleep function?" I have them running to a powered USB hub and have checked the cables. I have even tried different USB ports. Same issue.
rob10 Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 If you're seeing the same physical DDI blinking off in multiple ports/multiple cables is a bad sign. Likely the hardware. Only other thing you could try is physically switch ports AND change which screen you're exporting to that DDI in the SimAppPro software. This is my laptop so it's checked as ON and you want OFF for each USB port. It's in DEVICE MANAGER in Windows.
Boomer74 Posted September 13, 2024 Author Posted September 13, 2024 Well, that didn't work. I think it may be a hardware issue.
TED Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 Did u fix this? I had it happen to me recently. Was driving me crazy. U don't use a usb hub do u? If so try unplugging the ufc from that and plug it into the PC instead. In my case it seemed there was too much power draw with all 4 usb in kne hub. The ufc takes the largest draw. When I removed that all worked again.
Trigati Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 for me it was too many displays on a single USB port...so by carfully swapping them all between hubs and the sockets on the PC I was able to stop it...but only if I power them on one by one/
MustangSally Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 (edited) Ensure you have decent high powered USB 3 hubs. Make sure you plug the monitors into the same hub otherwise windows will not save the config. Do some basic fault finding, different ports and cables are a start Edited September 18, 2024 by MustangSally Ryzen 9 7950X3D - MSI MAG X670E TomaHawk MB, ASUS ROG Ryujin III 360 AIO 64gig Corsair DDR5@6000, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 AORUS Winwing Super Taurus, Orion2, TO / Combat panels, Collective with Topgun MIP Winwing Skywalker pedals, NLR Boeing Mil Edition Simpit, 55" Samsung Odyssey Ark, Trackir
