(Another) launch problem

A few weeks ago I lost my BS icons on desktop (I believe another user allowed the desktop cleanup utility to run).

 

I have now tried launching the game:

 

d:/program files/Eagle Dynamics/Ka-50/bin/stable/Launcher.exe

Trouble is, all I get is the grey dialogue box:

 

Error:

 

cannot open .\BlackShark\BlackShark.lua : No such file or directory

 

 

Now in the folder d:/program files/Eagle Dynamics/Ka-50/BlackShark I can see that file.

 

Anybody got any ideas?

 

I have seen other threads re the BlackShark.lua file, but these seem to refer to it being corrupted, not "missing" and to ATI cards (I am on Nvidia).

 

Only thing I can think of is to uninstall and reinstall - seems a shame to use up my activations however, if there is a better way.

That is not the way to launch the game. Here are the lines to execute dcs. Create the icons and copy them to "target" line.

 

Single player:

 

\BlackShark\bin\stable\Launcher.exe --console

 

Multiplayer:

 

\BlackShark\Multiplayer.bat

 

Or better use DCSMax to launch it (also will give you a fps boost if you have Vista/W7):

You can uninstall and reinstall ad nauseam without requiring an activation. That is of course if your hardware configuration does not change.

Distiler - thanks for the reply, but somehow does not work for me. I indeed was linking to the same .exe already. The text you suggested (even adjusting for my installation being on "Ka-50" rather than "Blackshark" as the base folder) still seemed to leave me with issues...the "--console" part was rejected as invalid.

 

159th Viper- thanks also. My apologies, I guess I am just confused a bit. If I uninstall and reinstall (as you say, no other changes) I do not need to touch the deactivation/reactivation routine?

Indeed on the activations/deactivations. The system will only pop into relevance if you change hardware or reinstall your OS or stuff like that. Simply uninstalling and then reinstalling the sim, when running it again the protection software will see what your hardware is, compare it to the previous activation entry, see that it's identical and won't bug you for a new one.

Then you're doing it wrong. Create a shortcut and fill it this way:

I reinstalled and have it working again. For me the path is:

 

"D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\bin\stable\Launcher.exe" --console

 

Clearly the syntax between my setup and yours is slightly different - re folder names and " " . Must be where the disconnect must have come from.

In any way you should have used DCSMax. More speed (it uses all cpu cores) and no need to worry about shortcuts.

If I were not on XP I would certainly follow your advice.

DCS Max is useful in XP also. It widely reported that it stabilizes the FPS in game so not a total waste.
