Rosly Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 (edited) Seems the F-16 campaign is designed exactly the same as A-10 campaign in terms of radio coms. It uses radio playback function (which is what we want for realistic stimulation) but again with wrong object's as source (guessing again the same trick with single static object is used). I complained about use of this method in A-10 campaign of Baltic Dragon. I really like the campaign. I actually love it, but here we are again! I cannot understand a thing on some of the radio calls! Example is right on the spot on mission 2 (first one) where we flight in formation, 1 mile trail and all leader calls are bearly understandable (over heavy statics) like he would be 200nm from us. Point is DCS calculate signal/noise ratio for radio coms API and if object is faaaar away from us, we hear exactly how it should sound, mean lots of static. This makes me think all coms are made with single stationary object as coms source placed somewhere in the middle of the theatre, exactly the same as A-10 campaign was designed. A properly designed mission would use actual mission object as radio com API source call, but this is more labour intensive. Edited September 23, 2024 by Rosly
baltic_dragon Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Hm.. maybe try to work with the audio settings and volumes. Nobody complained about this issue so far for the Gamblers campaign and when designing it the new radio system was already in place so I took good care to make sure all the transmitters are close enough to the player. Yes, sometimes there is a bit more static, but in my experience it sounds OK and nobody from the testing team nor players picked it up or complained. I dare say the missions are designed properly and there is nothing more I can do as I made sure to not have too big distances between transmitting units.. really don't know what to say here. WhiteDear Posted Sunday at 07:45 PM Posted Sunday at 07:45 PM (edited) I have the same problem. I just finished the Artic Thunder campaign for F16 and radios were good here. Then started up The Gamblers and in the first mission i had trouble understanding what was said. The sound was way to low - i couldnt turn it up any more, cockpit was maxed, all game sound sliders were maxed. There were some static, but my main problem is that the volume is to low (using pimax crystal). In the tutorial mission 0, the volume was fine Edited Sunday at 07:46 PM by WhiteDear
baltic_dragon Posted Thursday at 08:16 AM Posted Thursday at 08:16 AM The voice lines are done in exactly the same way as in Arctic Thunder, I used the same volumes, filters etc. This is weird indeed - though nobody else from my testers reported it. See if it continues in later missions and let me know please @WhiteDear For more information, please visit my website. See if it continues in later missions and let me know please @WhiteDear I have finished mission 4 so far and the radio chatter is still too low for me. I cant understand what is being said unless i read the text being displayed - and another thing. The text disappears to fast in my opinion (if this can be changed?) for of the transmissions. The Arctic Thunder campaign i finished was made by Reflected, so maybe not similar to yours regarding the radio sounds? I watched a YouTube video on one of the missions. This one with an example of the volume. Even from this YT video i have a hard time understanding what is being said. In my opinion it could be a little louder. The static is fine, its the volume. When the 9-line is being read form Ghost, i cant understand what is being said at all. I have to read the text to understand it correctly. Maybe i am just starting to get hearing impaired if no one else experiences the same? An example of the text disappearing to fast is shown here for the ATIS message. This doesn't happen for all text being displayed. Some have decent visibility times. It is especially important for when information you need, is being transmitted, like coordinates, altimeter and talk on to a target.
