Thinking about 24H2

I'm a G2 user have to wait till later in the year for a replacement.   I'm only seeing speculation about 24H2. Some think Oct.8th, or later in the month or ???  Can win 11 user decline the update? Anyone know?    Best way not to get updates, pause for weeks, just don't got on line ?,idk.

The preview, which I don't have access to, says it fixes some performance issue with AMD 9xxx CPU issues. I am still with 5800X3D so I would wait and see.

You can pause Windows 11 for up to 5 weeks as a temporary measure through Windows Update.

If you want it more permanent you should be able to do it like this.

Press Win + R to bring up the Run Box and type services.msc to open Windows Services.

Scroll down to Windows Updates and double click on it.

Then change it from Auto/Manual, whatever it's set on to Disabled, then press Apply, OK and Close the box and it should be disabled, just remember you done it as you don't want it off for ever.

Thanks, but it doesn't work.  Tried it weeks ago, it just goes back.

If you wish to decline Win11 updates, it can be done with WUB (windows update blocker):  https://www.sordum.org/9470/windows-update-blocker-v1-8/

Very easy to use (one button affair, enable/disable), and works with all Win OS, all the way back from XP to the current 11.


PS: please note that blocking Win OS updates with WUB also blocks apps downloads/updates from the Windows store.

Microsoft never did like being told what to do
