Cobra5087 Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Hello all, Sorry to trouble everyone. I am a newb here and could really use some of your help to get my game running smooth again since this latest patch. I have a top of the line rig with a 4090 video card and lots of ram. But I may have done something in the settings with the up-scaling that I think could be the trouble. I don't understand about a thousandth of anything to do with this sim. But I do enjoy tinkering and this is very frustrating having it chocking in the frames as I have yet even before try to make contact with a tanker lol!. Anyways, I again appreciate any help you can provide. I'm sorry to trouble everyone with something that is probably so simple to fix, but alas I am recuperating from a broken hip and don't really have the strength to try and figure this out when there is a great community out there willing to help. Thank you for your time. Jason Sharpe I use the Steam DCS which I have finally completed the full library.
Mogs Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Try using the graphics presets in DCS settings. It won't change upscaling however. For your system use High preset. Experimenting with the upscaling; Try DLSS or MSAA 4x.
Cobra5087 Posted October 2, 2024 Author Posted October 2, 2024 That seems to have done the trick. I just turned my settings to 'high' without adjusting any other settings like turning the cloud detail to max and such. Kind of bittersweet though. Thanks Mogs for the help. Jason Sharpe I use the Steam DCS which I have finally completed the full library.
Cobra5087 Posted October 12, 2024 Author Posted October 12, 2024 Update: Well my problem with the stuttering has returned. I am going through all the checks again to see what it causing the issue and will send in my report. Jason Sharpe I use the Steam DCS which I have finally completed the full library.
jackd Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 I had a long stutter problem solving discussion with support, nothing worked, only i learned a lot. Maybe it's wise anyway to disable Hyper-threading in your Motherboard BIOS now done with my I9 12900K, NVIDIA 4080s MSI edg MB. No VR though. Then i found an old post about game 2.5 on the Axis and Allies forum about shader cache cleaning as fix seemingly needed for 2.9.8 too. I ran windows (10 LTSC) Disk Cleanup on my boot C drive and also my game drive (F) which had a shader cache. NO'MO' stutters since that' ! ================================ ADDED, still had occasional gameplay stutters, but now with Vsync and fullscreen OFF( also set Hyperthreading off in motherboard BIOS). 2.9.8 DCS open beta seems to run OK with DCS from the bin-MT folder
jackd Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 (edited) ADDED 2.9.8.1214 .1 works OK, but only after the first game start after a windows 10 boot. Staggering display ALWAYS with game-playing after the second game start.. What ever cases this, and i've been very busy testing all sort of fixes like even core parking, driver checking, NVIDIA tuning, updating all sorts of windows (10) stuff, even resetting the latter, i cannot find it. Must be some kind of graphics buffer not being deleted after game quitting. I really wonder what's different with my settings on my my system from others that don't have these problems. ADDED 2: according support a fix, and it works: Affinity for the 8th core should be off, and it seems to work at least for my staggering problem. Pity is that you have to set it off for each new game start with DCS (MT) 2.9.8 running. Edited October 23, 2024 by jackd 1
mmike87 Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 And according to today's changelog, it doesn't seem like anything was done with the recent return of severe stuttering. "What stuttering?"
Slippa Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 I’ve had it stuttering since an update months ago. Nothing I’ve tried has stopped it happening. CTDs at times too. Shame this is still happening. It wastes half the flying time for me when it’s playing up and people regularly drop out altogether in MP. Good luck with it. 1
jackd Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 You could try switching off Hyperthreading in your motherboard BIOS, and use the DCS.exe from the bin-mt folder instead.
Slippa Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 Cheers Jack but that may as well be Japanese to me. I'd have to look up how to do it and I have to be very carefully monitored when buggering about with such witchcraft I may have a look at the adventure later ta.
