Pimax Crystal VR - Misaligned Images and Miniature World After Latest DCS Update

Hello everyone,

Since the latest DCS update on September 30th, I've been facing poor framerate and performance with my Pimax Crystal VR headset. I read that the issue might be related to the additional OpenXR toolkit and Quadview, which supposedly needed to be uninstalled, as DCS now has built-in support for foveated rendering.

After discovering that this wasn't the issue, I reinstalled everything. Additionally, I manually updated the Pimax Play software to the latest version. v1.33.01

Now I'm encountering a different problem: I can start DCS in VR, but I see two different images in each lens, and they don't overlap to form a complete picture. When I close one eye, it feels like I'm shifting toward that open eye. In the cockpit, this makes it feel like I'm sitting on the side of the cockpit. Additionally, the DCS world now appears like a miniature version in front of me.

I would appreciate any help or advice to resolve this issue.

Thanks in advance!

In addition to this if you're using the new Pimax OpenXR runtime then you can uninstall PimaxXR which would have provided this runtime for you previously.

AMD 7800x3D, 4080Super, 64Gb DDR5 RAM, 4Tb NVMe M.2, Quest 2

Update: Thanks to everyone for the tips! I’ve applied them and disabled the “force IPD” setting, which has made VR usable again. However, I’m still not convinced if the performance has improved significantly.

OpenXR toolkit has a build-in check box to disable it if you want to check if it‘s interfering with something. So no need to uninstall right away.

What „built-in support for foveated rendering“? DCS now has a checkbox (or toggle switch in the launcher) to activate/deactivate QuadViews. You still need to have QuadViews installed as before if you want to make use of it. It is just a convenient feature now for testing or quickly turning it on/off to your preference for different modules.

So…if you had used QV before and now you uninstalled it, OFC you have worse performance.

Also check out this VR subforum where you might find better advice then whereever you were told to uninstall OXRTK and QV.
