mytai01 Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 To Pimax: (Already submitted as a ticket to them) I love the potential of this headset, however, there's a very serious lack of guidance between the installation of the VR hardware/equipment, and actually getting a VR game (Standalone DCS) to function on the headset. Customers aren't going to be satisfied until they are playing their games on the headset. They way I see it, you're support and guidance isn't complete until they are playing their games. Without that support, they are going to conclude Pimax abandoned them with a headset they don't know how to use. Your company desperately needs to explain how to start games up using your headset, Steam based, Non-Steam based, etc. I bought this for the Stand alone DCS World. I've had the headset for two days, and I have no clue how to make it play my game... This is an extremely frustrating experience. This shouldn't be happening to any of your customers. I understand your frustration since the latest DCS/Pimax play updates opinions vary on what to do. Which pimax headset do you have? Is the headset connected to your PC? What Type of rig do you have?Calvin from Pimax on this forum is very helpful. Also on youtube setup videos from Pimax are available. My settings are attached to the thread below if it helps. Note latest Pimaxplay is 1.33. Edited October 4, 2024 by paul2437
MichaelJWP15 Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Anyone getting into VR on a PC needs to understand this is still very much a hobbyist environment. I have been involved in the industry and as a player in videogame graphics for 25+ years and I still find it challenging to setup and configure a PC application with optimal VR settings. And even then the software configuration requires constant attention. This is not to forgive Pimax, but there are a lot of "moving parts" both in hardware and software, not all of which are under their control. Patience very much required... 1 - Michael Intel Core i7 13700K | RTX 4070 | ASUS TUF Z690 | Pimax Crystal | Virpil/Warthog HOTAS

Calvin.Pimax Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 What's the headset model? And checked the bio, you had a 1080 GPU?

Blackhawk163 Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 I thought it was pretty straight forward on both the Pimax play app and experience home. mytai01 Posted October 6, 2024 Author Posted October 6, 2024 (edited) After 3 DAYS of struggling to figure out what the heck I needed to do to get standalone DCS working on the Pimax, and with no clear understanding of what I needed to do, I finally tried something that took me from being stuck on the "Moon Scene" to seeing the DCS in game GUI... The offender was this page of the menu: Apparently, the critical move was to hit the oval button that says: "SET PIMAX OPENXR AS OPENXR RUNTIME." That one move was not made crystal clear to me on anything I watched, on YouTube, or read anywhere! This one point needs to be pounded home hard! If you don't hit that button...you're not going anywhere on standalone DCS! Calvin.Pimax Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 Have you add this command line on DCS.exe? Change the runtime to Pimax OpenXR, and you should be able to run DCS without starting through SteamVR.
mytai01 Posted October 6, 2024 Author Posted October 6, 2024 No, I didn't do that. I didn't have to go through SteamVR at all. Once I hit the big button for PimaxVR I just had to fire up Pimax Play and DCS and it worked. 1 MS Win7 Pro x64, Intel i7-6700K 4.0Ghz, Corsair RAM 16Gb,EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW GAMING ACX 3.0, w/ Adjustable RGB LED Graphics Card 08G-P4-6286-KR, Creative Labs SB X-FI Titanium Fatal1ty Champ PCIe Sound Card, Corsair Neutron XTI 1TB SSD, TM Warthog Throttle & Stick, TM TPR Pedels, Oculus Rift VR Headset CV1, Klipsch Promedia 4.1 Speakers...
