Game Crashes If I Watch Bombs Drop, Look At Ground Targets

Running any mission or in multiplayer, if I view the bombs falling, F6, or watch bombs hit targets on the ground, F7, my screen shudders, then stops, lock up DCS and then I 'report' the crash.

The logs show a lot of 'ERRORS' . . but way over my head determining what causes the sim crash.

It seems like my graphic card is overloaded . . I have GeForce GTX, DUKE...but I'm just guessing.  This problem has occurred after the last big updates, never had this issues years ago.

Any help would be appreciated,

Chopper

rob10, I did set my pagefile to a static 32GB . . ran the mission again and it crashed as I was watching the bombs hit the ground target . . . just like it had done previously.

Attached the log for your review . . . thank you

This is a very wide spread and sadly common error as to what Google tells me after 20min cross reading.

Also, it is very likely not ED related, it points towards Hardware, Bios, vBios, FPS, RAM and overclocking, somewhere in this construct the error is likely to be found.

Many articles also stated the error appears among many or all of their games installed.

Test other demanding games for the same 0x887A0006 error

Undo any OC for any component, back to basics  for now.

Upgrade your Bios and if possible vBios

Good luck

buceador . . . no it does not . . . doesn't crash if I fly the mission, watch the impact on the FLIR, only when I'm outside of the cockpit . . sometimes even watching my wingman in F2, or a enemy aircraft going down from a A2A kill

BitMaster . . . thanks for the input . . will recheck everything

One other thing . . can fly VR in single player, crashes in multiplayer in VR about 5 minutes into the mission . . now I'm thinking memory.

Tried a lot of different approaches to the problem, have ordered more memory, will try that next.  Will update with results.

The DCS log analyser has the following response to this log file:

There is a GPU-related error

  • Remove any overclocking from your GPU
  • Uninstall your GPU driver with DDU and install a clean one.

Can you also check if you have motion blur enabled and turn this off as well.

sleighzy, already checked for overclocking, driver with DDU also uninstalled and reinstalled, Motion Blur is OFF, that had caused another problem earlier and by turning it OFF had fixed that issue.

Thanks for the input

Yeah I'd helped another person the other day as this was crashing their VR, but showed up as a GPU error, hence mentioning it. What was the problem you experienced that by turning this off resolved it?

May not show anything but you could run the Windows dxdiag tool, save the report, and then drop it in here. It should show the last 10 crashes for processes on your machine, just in case it flags something that might be related.

Prior issue with Motion Blur

Installed 64GB of Memory . . solved the problem completely . . except.  If I run the same mission in multi-player, Meta Link, Rift S, it 'locks up' if I watch the bombs hit their targets.  Same as before.

So, my next step is to uninstall the Rift S software and reinstall, and uninstall OpenXR and NOT reinstall it.  I may have a separate issue with VR.  OpenXR has caused me issues since I first added it.  I hear that Meta has their own version of it in their software.

Marking this "Mark as Solution"  Thanks everyone for their help.

By “OpenXR” do you actually mean the OpenXR Toolkit? They’re not the same thing, OpenXR is the API/runtime used by DCS and the runtime for your headset. Meta have an OpenXR runtime, which is typically what Oculus headsets use, but don’t have their own version of the OpenXR Toolkit.

From the dxdiag.txt file you provided there was one crash from Tacview, about 3 from Corsair Link 4, and another couple from the NVidia Container. This last one I’m not familiar with so don’t have any insights at this time.
