sobek Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Will you be modelling all the systems? The systems he mentioned are the ones that are going to be modelled. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
uksub Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 The systems he mentioned are the ones that are going to be modelled. I was just puzzled as I would think that some of hem would be quite sensitive, secuirty wise. I know thats the reason they can do an AH64D beciase the Longbow radar is still hush hush.
GGTharos Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 It isn't just the radar ... and who says you'll have 'security sensitive features' in what's modeled? You won't even know they're not there ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Speed Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 (edited) I get the impression that ED is allowed to access classified information on US military aircraft for their military sims. How is this possible? The programmers are Russian. Furthermore, converted a classified simulation to an unclassified sim would be a hell of a lot of red tape. I worked for the US army on IR imaging systems for about a year as a electrical engineering co-op job as I was getting my undergrad degree, and I learned rules like, if you put a blank CD into a classified computer, then the CD becomes classified, etc. Hell, I had to print off an unclassified portion of a classified document using a "classified" printer and retype it in manually on an unclassified computer just to transfer the data. I would think it would be a bitch trying turn a classified sim into an unclassified one, trying to prove that the code you had that was once part of a classified simulation no longer had anything classified in it, and just trying to wade through the red tape around security... GGTharos Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 You get the wrong impression. They may get more access than you (the general public), up to and including features you will not see or be told about, but they will not see things that would be dangerous to reveal. The reason the product is so modular is that the customer can then go on to add their own classified data to the sim without letting ED programmers see it. Speed Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Ok... so then it's like FOUO or something? Thanks for the explanation.
