Ron Attwood Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 It's been a while since I used DCS but I'm re-acquainting myself. So far so good. P51, Spitfire and P47 under control. I thought I'd give my old nemesis a try. It still hates me! Tried to load up a cold start but it loads with an almighty crash as it's dumped onto the concrete with it's wheels retracted! Bits of bodywork flying every where. I then tried a free flight. Spawned with a dead engine. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Same. In the list of installed products the i16 is there but the OctopusG is greyed out. Is that significant.? Maybe it's just trying to tell me not to bother.
razo+r Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Have you checked your key bindings for any unwated, pre-assigned keybindings?
Ron Attwood Posted November 2, 2024 Author Posted November 2, 2024 Thanks for coming back. Unless I've missed something, you have the load the plane in order to change/assign bindings, yes? While I'm typing I can feel the answer. I reckon you CAN assign bindings without loading eh? All the other planes I've done so far have been load/assign bindings

No, you can also change them from the main menu. 1 minute ago, Ron Attwood said: While I'm typing I can feel the answer. I reckon you CAN assign bindings without loading eh? Ron Attwood Posted November 2, 2024 Author Posted November 2, 2024 Yeah, I just found that out. Must be a new thing. However...On starting DCS I'm now shown a pop-up saying the I-16 is not authorised and will be disabled. So I went to the DCS products and clicked BUY and quite rightly I'm informed that I've bought it already.
razo+r Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 No, the possibility to change the bindings in the main menu is ancient. As for the module issues, I can only give you generic tips. Remove all mods that you have installed (if any), make sure that your anti virus has not quarantined any files from DCS, if it did restore the files and add them as an exception and then at last run a repair.
Ron Attwood Posted November 2, 2024 Author Posted November 2, 2024 Right. Cracked it! Malwarebytes took exception to the I16. (Has he tried to fly it to?) My previous install of DCS was on E: which Malware... was aware of. This time I installed it on F: Rectified that, uninstalled the beast and started again. Beast installed and loaded without issue. Now the really hard work starts. Thanks very much for your input. Believe it or not it helps to concentrate the mind when there's someone in your corner.
