pauldy Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 (edited) I was wondering if Hog users are using this in landing. It does make sense when in landing an aircraft. It's the AoA or maybe the pitch attitude that's always constant. The Airspeed will vary based on aircraft weight that's why some aircraft have "Speed Booklets" Maybe this is the indicator i must always take note? and not much the airspeed? I do remember that when landing the F-15 in game, i rarely check the airspeed, I just maintain a constant AoA range in the approach until flaring. Edited June 20, 2009 by pauldy [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
pauldy Posted June 21, 2009 Author Posted June 21, 2009 ~bump~ So players don't use it? guess i'll have to use airspeeds then. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
104th_Crunch Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 For me I use AoA, speed and decent rate. Carrier landings in fog will make you use all 3 ;) If in ILS then the hog will give you the green light when AoA is good.
71st_Mastiff Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 yea and the dude in the tower will yell at you your to high or low... Mugenjin Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 I only watch for final descent rate and speed. But that's more because of the SFM of the A-10. Will probably more important in DCS.
Kuky Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 (edited) Watching your AoA is very usefull in dogfights :) EDIT: errr....but not in the A-10A :P Edited June 22, 2009 by Kuky PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
104th_Crunch Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 yea and the dude in the tower will yell at you your to high or low... Never follow the voice. It is always behind what's happening. Look down at the ADI or HSI instead for glideslope.
pauldy Posted June 22, 2009 Author Posted June 22, 2009 (edited) I was actually considering to disable/remove those tower commands. I believe real world pilots don't hear the above or below glidepath radio messages (except in carriers though..) ..oh great idea~ I'll disable it :D So that i can be more attentive to the runway picture/instrument changes in IFR. I tried approaching by the AoA Indexer, it makes a bit of sense. I don't really porpoise much. Anyway it could be the scripted landing in game. Although it makes the A-10 apporach at low nose attitudes. Kinda similar to the landing profiles of airliners. EDIT: Oh noes, it's not practical to disable.. tower could end up saying "<Callsign> 1-1, tower your ........." :( I wish it could be removed. Edited June 22, 2009 by pauldy [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
