CH47 - Condition Levers to Ground - Insturments go Off

I've been playing around with the engine condition levers.  got them both working on an axis each.    With everything running.. when i bring them back to ground idle (before the detent) the engines do spool down, but all the instruments go off.

If i then advance the levers to flight.. the engines do not spool back up.   I have to lift the collective for the engines to start spooling up.  Only after taking off do the insturments come back to life.

Something i've setup wrong  or a known issue/bug?

Read sweating the metal

it’s about a very experienced RAF pilot flying Chinook. Old but upgraded ones.
they started apu and apu generator then 1 engine throttled up that engine and started the generator, then started second engine.
I tried it on ours and it worked. But I am a little confused about what is correct procedure.

Sweating the metal is a good book.

Gabreil, Why would you re-adjust the throttles to start state without the APU running? Why man, why?

HP G2 Reverb (Needs upgrading), Windows 10 VR settings: IPD is 64.5mm, High image quality, G2 reset to 60Hz refresh rate. set to OpenXR, but Open XR tool kit disabled.

DCS: Pixel Density 1.0, Forced IPD at 55 (perceived world size), DLSS setting is quality at 1.0. VR Driver system: I9-9900KS 5Ghz CPU. XI Hero motherboard and RTX 3090 graphics card, 64 gigs Ram, No OC... Everything needs upgrading in this system!.

Vaicom user and what a superb freebie it is! Virpil Mongoose T50M3 base & Mongoose CM2 Grip (not set for dead stick), Virpil TCS collective with counterbalance kit (woof woof). Virpil Apache Grip (OMG). MFG pedals with damper upgrade. Total controls Apache MPDs set to virtual Reality height. Simshaker Jet Pro vibration seat.. Uses data from DCS not sound... goodbye VRS.

I wasn't aware that the APU should be running - would have thought there would be enough power generated if the engines are running even if at ground idle.

Reason for bringing the throttles back is sometimes during a session and using Fatcow script, i find myself on the ground for a while.. i want to bring the power down whilst just waiting.

@Anoro Thanks.  Now i know to bring the APU online before reducing power, i'll give that ago.

Only with all engines at full operating speed will you have enough power to rotate the rotors and drive the AC generator to power the onboard electronic systems.

In the MI-8, I have had many times where I have had to evade missiles so violently that the AC generator shut down.... just when you need the them the most.

The AC Generators are connected to the Rotor Transmission and not the engines, the same as the Mi-8, so the rotors need to be at 86% or more for the generators to come online.
