Viper TQS mission pack weird problem!!

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hi!

I have the Viper TQS mission pack for almost a year now! It is a great throttle, but almost for the last 4 months I have had the most unusual/weird problem with loss of buttons inputs from throttle only, the panel still works, and I receive no USB disconnecting sound… if I unplug and plug it (via USB-C or USB) it works immediately! I cannot reproduce this behavior, sometimes after 5 minutes, sometimes after several hours! On Windows devices it doesn’t work too! I’ve tried everything:

  • Reinstalled drivers and firmware
  • Changed USB port (2.0, 3.1, powered HUB, MB back panel etc)
  • Uninstalled HID
  • Windows power management
  • BIOS MB updated

I only play DCS on my system, Windows 11 updated!

It worked flawlessly for the first 6-7 months… no new hardware, and software is the same with updates only!

If you may ask, only VHF/UHF IFF in/out, dogfight override mode, air brakes, TDC cursor, MAN Range, uncage button stop working, throttle itself works but with some spikes (not smooth anymore)… “panic button” and panel work just fine… if I unplug and plug-in it will work again… but it might stop working again…

I don’t use and didn’t ever installed TARGET software!

Sorry for this post but this is driving me nuts!!

Yes, I will sent an e-mail to Thrustmaster support! Dunno if it is hardware or software problem!!

Thank you all

Cheers

Seems like it's fallen asleep. Make sure you turn off the option to let USB devices fall asleep in your power settings. Or just disable the Power Service all together. Needs a reboot. Easiest way to check it anyway.

I already did that! 🫡

No joy!!! I don’t even get the typical “usb unplug sound” and the panel still works!

Thank you Max

Hmmm... I see. Bummer! Was hoping for an easy fix for you.
It was another user reporting a similar issue. Don't remember how it went. If you test the buttons in Windows Joystick app, Virpil's, (yes, it's free, excellent and work with any device). Do you get strange inputs? A pinched cable is my second thought, but it should not be fixed by a replug. Strange it is.

I will try Virpil Joy app 👍

I also updated MB BIOS (Asus TUF Gaming X670E-plus WiFi) version 3057 - we will see if it helps!

Thank you

Just an update!

This weird problem was posted on YouTube by someone else… and he is also Portuguese!

I sent Thrustmaster support an e-mail, so let’s see…

Cheers

After testing Viper TQS without the panel (mission pack) the problem is still there!

Got news from Thrustmaster support. They want me to send Viper TQS to France for technical inspection (no costs on my own), they only want to see the throttle without the panel!😕

Thrustmaster support in general does a very good job, you just have to be patient a bit sometimes.

Hi Milker,

I’m experiencing the exact same issue with my VIPER TQS. At first, only the buttons stopped working, but now the entire device randomly becomes unresponsive. Sometimes it works fine for an hour or more, but other times it stops working after just a few minutes.

When this happens, I don’t hear the usual Windows disconnection sound, and the device is no longer recognized. However, if I unplug and reconnect the USB cable, it temporarily starts working again.

I’ve already tried:

  • Reinstalling the drivers,
  • Changing the USB port, always connecting it directly to my PC instead of using a USB hub.

Did you manage to find a solution? If so, I’d really appreciate it if you could share how you fixed it.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Darksky!

I tried everything I could and no joy! I mailed Thrustmaster Support and they asked me to try it without the panel… no good!

Then they asked me to send Viper TQS (without the panel) to them (France, I am on Europe)! Looks like they sent it back to me (tomorrow is the expected delivery) but no info on what was the problem (I presume it is fixed 😁)!

So, what I suggest you is to contact/mail Thrustmaster Support and let them fix it!

At least 2 more people (besides you and me) had the same problem!

Hope it helps…

I will give feedback as soon as I receive my TQS back 🤙

PS: Thrustmaster Support gave me a postal label and I had nothing to pay for sending/receiving Viper TQS, jus had to pack it and deliver it on Post Office

Hi you all!

looks like Thrustmaster Support found something inside Viper TQS  they couldn’t repair and sent me a new unit!

If anyone has a similar problem I suggest you to contact them!

Thumbs up for Thrustmaster Support 🤙

And thank you all 👌

Cheers

Hi Milker,

Have you received your Viper TQS back? If so, did you already have a chance to test it? I’m really curious to know if everything is working fine now.

Looking forward to your feedback!

Hi Darksky!

Yes, I’ve received a new Viper TQS unit! All good for now… no disconnect issues so far! 🤞
