First, I should say I ran DCS on this computer for a few years without any serious issues.  I have been away from the simulation for a few months and had removed it from my system.  I downloaded and installed  the latest version about 5 days ago and loaded the F-18, A-10, Nevada Terrian, Huey helo, and a couple of more AC.  Started up the simulation and it loaded well...selected a mission (take off and navigation at Nellis) and one other training mission I believe.  The mission loaded about 75% then experienced a CTD without error message.  I've tried the repair tool a couple of times, checked to ensure all previous installation files had been successfully removed, etc.  No success.  The log looks disasterous.  Maybe one of you can help.  Thinking I may need to uninstall and do a complete re-install.

Hello. Try to open the mission in mission editor and save it. Sometimes missions have problems with newer version of DCS.

Remove mods and run a repair. No need to ever reinstall.

Thanks for the suggestion.  Didn't work for me.  I'm going to try to attach the crash log document.

hello. this log indicates you are low on memory. a lot below minimum specs.

2024-12-04 19:46:06.383 INFO    APP (Main): CPU cores: 4, threads: 8, System RAM: 10139 MB, Pagefile: 4851 MB

2024-12-04 19:51:36.446 ALERT   EDCORE (Main): Out of memory in ed_malloc for 4498391055 bytes.

you can try to a static pagefile or best to get at least 32 GB of physical RAM

Good information.  I'll need to check my system...did not have this problem a few months back....just showed up with the re-install.  Thanks.

you may have some bad RAM. try to remove the sticks and reseat after clearing out any dust. could be just that. what does the computer think it has installed? 10139 MB is an odd number. normally RAM is divisible by 1024.

Ive just done a full system reinstall (windows, latest drivers & DCS), zero mods, full vanilla. Just got 3 CTD myself, here are the logs (i think, wasnt sure which was correct one, just found these in save games folder).

DCS has always been so stable for me, i know it is a fresh install, but still. Anyone know whats going on here?

Your issue is unrelated to the original post here so you should raise your own post. Perform the following below, restart the game and replicate the crash, and then attach the logs to a new report.

  • Reduce your preload radius to 60000
  • Update your custom page file to 32768. Make sure that it is the only page file on your system and is on your fastest SSD
  • Delete your fxo and metashaders2 folders in your Saved Games\DCS directory
