Cobra5087 Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 I’ve been spending some time in the Huey, I’ve taken notice that there is no heat blue from the exhaust of the ship. If I’m not mistaken there was a time when it was working. As mentioned numerous times the wipers are just for show. No effect on clearing the rain. Lastly I’ve tried to place and rudders in the exact same position as the manual states which is found with the ESC key menu button press and to no avail. I can’t hover to save my life. I’m spinning or sliding, angled. I don’t know if rudder pedals will help though I am using the cheap Thrustmaster throttle/Stick combo with the twist rudder stick. It also has that annoying bump in the throttle at fifty percent. Which prevents smooth collective up or down. Jason Sharpe I use the Steam DCS which I have finally completed the full library.
DishDoggie Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 Learning to Hover is a hard lesson to master in the Huey. It just takes time. I know people do use the twist grip and have mastered it. Don't give up. I have a opinion like everyone does. Keep using your gear till you are Sure you need better Gear. I used low priced Gear and it worked ok. Years of use and I did get better. I will not lie. I do feel it helped me and I do feel it was worth the large amount I paid out for all new Gear. I went with Virpil. However there are just as good gear you can get and VKB had some new stuff that looks like a good price. I do have Rudder pedals and I am sold on them. I watch videos of good Huey pilots on YouTube. My First attention is Will they Hover at liftoff or just go. I may be to hard but I judge ability of pilots on IF and How good They Hover or not. Even on a fast Combat landing it can be done smooth with no Skid sliding. I killed myself Thousands of times learning. I'm not a big fan of the new Engine Power for the Huey but you get use to it. We all know the Rudder input is way off for takeoffs. Far to much Left Pedal needed. When using my Fix Wing Throttle I set it up to run inverted of the Airplane full forward for no Collective and pulled back to add Collective. Axis was on Slider. Keep up with it and Best of Luck. 1
LuseKofte Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 There is a YouTube tutorial for hoovering this bird. You need to breathe and not over compensate. When you learn it , it is easy. But the better joystick you got the easier it becomes. A sticky one make it very difficult. 1

rayrayblues Posted December 31, 2024 Posted December 31, 2024 For me, the biggest improvement came when I got rid of the twister. It's very hard to fly anything, especially helos, with all controls on one stick. You must separate the collective from the cyclic. I am handicapped and have no use of my feet. I have a $60.00 ThrustMaster with a rocker axis on the collective handle and I mapped my rudder axis to that. Made a world of difference. There is also a set screw on the stick to lock out the twist. Works great on fixed wing craft too. GL/HF Ray 3 SLAVA UKRAINI MoBo - ASUS 990FX R2 Sabertooth, CPU - AMD FX 9590 @4.7Gb.
