First, I love this campaign! 😎

I'm trying to fly mission 7, post the latest update - 2.9.11.4686, and it's unplayable due to the wind.

The wind is way too strong and keeps increasing as I fly the mission. On my way to waypoint 4, while climbing to angles 26', it already crossed 300 knots!!! 😱

Hi, glad to hear you're enjoying the campaign!  The wind in this mission is set to around 25 knots at altitude, I've checked the editor settings and the update hasn't affected anything there.  I've also just run a test where I let the mission play for over an hour in accelerated time, and saw no change in the wind.  Do you have any mods installed?  These can cause all sorts of weird unrelated effects in DCS.

Hi @ChillNG, I do have mods installed, but nothing changed in my setup playing the first 6 missions of the campaign and many others. The first thing I’ve tried is to disable the weather mod, but same strong wind.
I’ll try disabling all mods and test again. Thanks!

Confirmed that the weather mod causes the wind issue.

  1. Tried to remove all mods, performed a (slow) repair - tested: no wind issue.
  2. Enabled all mods other than the weather mod - tested: no wind issue.
  3. Downloaded the latest version of the weather mod and enabled it - tested: extremely strong wind...

Good to hear, thanks for the update.

I'm sorry, but it seems that the weather mod is not the cause, and it was a "random" success.

Again, I disabled ALL mods and performed a cleanup + slow repair, but the wind issue remained.
I tried Mission 7 startup + first part many times, experiencing the wind issue. However, while trying to re-fly Mission 5 (first part), I had no wind problem; again, it could be "random."

After many hours of testing, I'm clueless 😕
Any idea would be appreciated.

I'd be highly surprised if it wasn't the weather mod having some effect, it's not an issue I've ever heard of anyone else having and it seems like too much of a coincidence.  As to why it's persisting, I'm not sure, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the campaign as opposed to a repair?

The weather mod does not change anything in relation to the wind.

Maybe not as a designed function, but in the past I've seen different mods conflict with random seemingly unconnected units in DCS and cause all manner of problems.  Mods have many unexpected and weird effects in DCS, it's not past the realm of possibility that a weather mod is having an unexpected and unintended impact on the weather in a mission, especially right after an update.  Then again of course it could be a different mod, or even a combination of mods.

If anyone else has any input that is more experienced with mods than I'm sure OP would appreciate it.

I created the weather mod and the modded files don't touch anything that would affect wind. In fact, I couldn't even find any way to change the behavior of the wind in the game even if I wanted to.

What are the weather settings for the problematic mission?

@ChillNG thanks a lot for your support. I’ll try a complete cleanup, repair and reinstall of the campaign. Will I lose my campaign progress?

@bandit648 your weather mod is awesome, and I never experienced any issue in missions before. Thanks for supporting too.

No, so long as you maintain your saved games folder with the logbook in it then I think progress should be ok.

I've done the whole process again, including reinstalling the campaign and nothing changed...

These are the steps I took:

  1. Uninstall the campaign
  2. Disable ALL mods
  3. DCS Cleanup
  4. DCS (slow) Repair
  5. Run DCS and test a free flight - OK
  6. Exit DCS
  7. Install the campaign
  8. Run DCS and test Mission 7 - strong wind again...

I decided it's time to uninstall DCS completely and reinstall all from scratch! 😎

In the last few days, I've been trying out everything, including cleaning up DCS completely and reinstalling everything without mods (more than once).

My current assessment is that, very weirdly, it's related to M7 in this campaign.

With the latest reinstall, I now flew LOWOS M5 + M3 (which has stormy weather) + a mission from the Gamblers campaign, and everything was just fine. Trying M7 again, and the crazy wind is back... 🥶

@ChillNG I don't really have the knowledge of how this could happen, and I'll be happy to support you with any testing needed to resolve that. Thanks 🙏

Yeah it's weird, to be honest neither do I.  Obviously the missions not set at that, nor can we make winds that high in the editor so it's a bit of a mystery.  Also strange that you get it after a reinstall, so wondering if something in your config/saved games is corrupted, as this wouldn't reinstall with DCS as it's a separate file location.  I'll send you a different version of mission 7 in the next day or two and see if that's affected, then we'll take it from there.

Hi, really enjoying the campaign and thank you for your hard work.

Just wanted to confirm that I'm experiencing the same issue and that I had previously done a slow repair after the last update. Just wanted you to know it's not an isolated issue.

@phtate0830 Do you also experience misplaced datalink tracks and PDLT (besides the strong winds)?

Ok thanks for letting me know, any mods in use? If so might be helpful to compare with Zachi.

All my latest tests are with no mods at all.

No, no mods are in use (I don't use mods).

If it helps, I did complete the mission but had to ignore the ATC commands due to low fuel. The wind was 127 knots from about 250 until touchdown.

Hi!

Same problem here, strong cross winds (up to 520kts), datalink and route misplace. The only mod I have is Tacca's NVG. I gonna try it without any mod and come back to report.

So I still can't reproduce this effect, can anyone try rolling back the last update and see if the same happens on the previous version?
