obious Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 I’ve been playing around with my VR settings this past weekend and whilst I understand what mostly how they impact visuals/performance in DCS, I’m not sure how the FPS frame limit slider works. I’m running a Quest Pro at 90fps at around a 65% GPU (utilisation) as is fairly stable with the fps limit set at 300. Should I reduce the limit to match the QP’s refresh rate or maybe just over (say ~95fps limit)? Panzerlang Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Suck it and see. Soon as I reduce it to anything other than max (300) I get stutters. I think it uses a fair bit of CPU to do it.
evanswillo Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Can I suggest you watch the video by Reflected Simulations called 4 Tricks to boost VR Performance in DCS, he gives a good description of how to manage the FPS slider. diego999 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 It does nothing in my case. FPS seem to be limited by the headset, as long as you set the limiter above the native framerate you're using in VR (72 or 90 in most cases).
Tomcat388th Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 I have my dcs slider set to 95 and with openxr toolkit I lock my frames to 45. I'm also using Virtual Desktop with the 90hz setting. I get really smooth gameplay SP and MP my specs are in my sig. When I left everything at 90 and have the dcs fps showing I would see the stutter/skip if it dipped down in the upper50's or low 60's and back up to 90. With it locked at 45 I rarely get anything at all. On the FPS monitor staight fps line and the frame time line is really tiny zigzags. Don't know it it helps or not but thought I would post Happy New Year everyone J Ryzen7 5800X3D. 64 gb ram, 6950XT 16gb, Winwing Orion F18, MFG Crosswind Rudder, 42 inch lg tv, Quest PRO USN VF31 F14A AE2 1985-1989 CV 59 NAS Oceana IL ANG 183FW/170FS F16C Block 30 Big Mouth 1989-2006 Full time tech Retired E8
