Can I Hide the Tomcat's Stick?

I tried the first mission of Speed and Angels tonight. I tried hitting the backspace button to hide the stick, is that not possible in the campaign?

I think it's because you have it assigned to the backspace. Assign it to something other than the backspace or the spacebar.
