Hey Guys,

I was running some tests and was wondering which ports besides 10308 do we need too open for Playing DCS? now I know port 10308 is for who hosts but there has to be other ports required to play on DCS or is it by some magic it just works?

Also for the wise guys yes I realize officially they say port 10308 but I think that is not the entire story here?

TCP/UDP 10308 is the only port you need inbound, unless you also wish to admin the server remotely, in which case you will also need 8088 (WebGUI) also if you use the DCS voice chat you'll need to allow TCP/UDP 10309 also.

Well, can't tell from where I am.

Not all Ports, there are 65.536 of them, are used by DCS but by a variety of services and apps etc..   Knowing which one belongs to which service can be tricky at first but looking up the ports in a general port list will tell you what Ports are usually used by certain services, like 80 = http, 21=ftp_handshake, 20 = ftp_data, 22 = ssh, etc etc etc.

up to Port 1023  ( 0-1023 ) are called ROOT-PORTS and should not be used by anything other than OS services and well known services, see above, http, ftp, dns,smb and so on.

So, for games and 99% of third party apps, you will find them between 1024 and 65535, look here for example  https://www.iana.org/assignments/service-names-port-numbers/service-names-port-numbers.xhtml
