IvanK Posted February 8 Posted February 8 (edited) Bug 1 The Radar horizon line in the front seat cannot be moved in the display. The Heaxagonal "HORLN" knob does not seem to have any effect when rotated. Bug2 As pointed out elsewhere the scope is not precisely vertical. This leads to the horizon indicating a slight right bank when wings level. Edited February 9 by IvanK
Stickler Posted Sunday at 07:05 PM Posted Sunday at 07:05 PM (edited) One might add that with the radar scanning along the horizon (elevation +- 0), the elevation bar is not coincident with the 0° mark on the elevation scale in the front cockpit. Edited Sunday at 07:05 PM by Stickler
Zabuzard Posted Sunday at 07:19 PM Posted Sunday at 07:19 PM That is correct though. Btw, make sure to eliminate paralax by putting your head above it in the right angle and distance. The paralax on this one is kinda big bc the screen is quite deep in behind the glass actually. Like an entire arm length deep.
Stickler Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago While it may be true that the lack of coincidence of the markings is an issue in the real F-4 as well (I don't have a real aircraft immediately available I could use to check), it is certainly not a parallax issue. Regardless of head position, the "zero" elevation mark of the radar symbology is always at the same 1-2° positive elevation scale position. On the contrary, in the rear seat, the misalignment can be eliminated with an appropriate head position.
