Booka42 Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Hi all, I fly the F-14 and warbirds a lot, so I am quite familiar with "hands on" non-fly-by-wire aircraft. I love the Mirage F1, but the rudder control is still giving me trouble. It is very sensitive, especially at take off. So what are your rudder axis tune curves for the F1? Right now I am using 15 and I'm going to try 25. Does the F1 have some curves build into the FM, like the F-16? What are your guys curves and what is Aerges recommendation here? From a realism standpoint. I use Thrustmaster TPR rudders. Best regards, Booka42
Solution Bremspropeller Posted March 8 Solution Posted March 8 The issue is not the sensitivity, but the output-delay of the NWS. It takes a finite amount of time for your input to "happen", so you'll have a tendancy to make a too coarse (and too long on the time-scale) input, which you'll then try to correct with an even greater input into the other direction. The cure is to stab the rudder - kind of like flying an tailwheel aircraft. Make an input for 1s, return to neutral, wait for the aircraft to respond and then go from there on. Another way of doing things is to just make inputs progressively and slowly. Changing curves might help a bit here and there, but it will not change the input-delay and thus you'll always have a tendency to over-control and PIO. Some people do turn off the NWS entirely, using directional braking. 2 So ein Feuerball, JUNGE!
Booka42 Posted March 9 Author Posted March 9 Thanks Bremspropeller, that's a really good anser. I'll try that. So you don't use any curves at all with your setup? Danke und LG Booka42 1
chichowalker Posted March 9 Posted March 9 Normally it depends a lot on your pedals hardware. I have crosswind pedals setup, very sensitive in center positions, and I have added a dead zone of 10 it's nice. Start tuning your rudder axis, adding dead zone or saturation and test. Booka42 Posted March 9 Author Posted March 9 Thanks man, I already have a deadzone of 5 and a curve of 15 with my Thrustmaster TPR Rudders. Seems to work fine, the rest is probably an issue of technique, like Bremspropeller said. 1
