TasDozer Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Just about to embark on the second photo-recon mission and having enormous fun so far! Can I check something - "zeroing" the altimeter while parked at Detling - the airfield elevation is 600ft. So shouldn't you set the altimeter to read 600ft (and thus show your altitude above sea level for the rest of the flight)? If you set it to read 0ft, it registers your height above Detling - and when you're instructed to fly 100ft off the surface of the Channel the altimeter is reading -500ft. I've been setting QNH (i.e. the altimeter reads 600ft on the ground at Detling) and haven't encountered any problems so far so will probably keep on doing this! 1
SUNTSAG Posted March 27 Posted March 27 In the vast majority of instances I wanted to keep the settings simple and to a minimal. Hence why I used zero as more or less the standard throughout. 1 Callsign: NAKED My YouTube Channel [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Grundar Posted March 28 Posted March 28 Yeah I just set the altimeter to the airfield elevation where I am based out of at that stage 160 for Manners for example. The campaign is generally relaxed in the matter of handing things extraneous to "the action" as it were, not a bad thing at all, especially for more casual players. I do find myself setting things though which I don't need to really set in this campaign. I also often forget that navigator will manipulate some things for you such as bomb settings - somehow despite the mission directly telling you the navigator will set the bombs and open the doors, I tend to automatically do it myself (and then the trigger for the navigator activating the bombs and doors reverses my actions, I've done it like 5 times now lol >_< ) 1
