Jarhead0331 Posted March 31 Posted March 31 What is the average cruise speed for you guys? I've read that Avg speed for the OH-58D is around 125mph. However, I really struggle to keep it above 90 on the indicated air speed, which I understand is displayed in knots. That would mean I'm actually cruising around at less than 80 mph. It seems painfully slow to be getting around from point to point. Am I doing something wrong? What is the trick to getting some more consistent speed out this helo? Thanks.

Expand IIRC ~80 KIAS for comfort and range (it's also approx. best autorotation speed for glide distance). Expand 125 KIAS is the MAX VNE with crew doors fitted. • With weapons or a GTW above 4,500 lbs - VNE is 120 KIAS. • Without the doors - VNE is 110 KIAS = ~126 mph. Expand AFAIK the fastest configuration would be to set the DCS Kiowa up as a Fort Rucker trainer (without weapons or the MMS) and was used in RL to train autorotations, etc. Edited March 31 by Ramsay 3 i9 9900K @4.8GHz, 64GB DDR4, RTX4070 12GB, 1+2TB NVMe, 6+4TB HD, 4+1TB SSD, Winwing Orion 2 F-15EX Throttle + F-16EX Stick, TPR Pedals, TIR5, Win 11 Pro x64, Odyssey G93SC 5120X1440

Expand Just as a quick note, in your example you say that 90 knots equates to roughly less than 80 mph... you have that backwards. 90 knots is roughly 104 mph, and 80 mph is roughly 70 knots.
Jarhead0331 Posted April 2 Author Posted April 2 ^I knew that! Not sure how i managed to flip that around. lol
