OMAR Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Folks, I'd appreciate any help in narrowing down this issue. I've tried the crash log analyzer, but keep coming up blank as to what could be causing the issue. Also done multiple scan/repair, removing "extra" files, and to the best of my knowledge, removed unofficial mods. However, nearly every time i enter a mission -- campaign, multiplayer, or a single mission -- shortly after takeoff, the program crashes to desktop. I've attached the most recent crash logs. Any help would be appreciated. dcs.log

Advice Verify that this is configured correctly in Windows: Game Mode disabled Hardware accelerated GPU scheduling disabled Core Isolation disabled Tuning Tips If you have FPS issues, try turning off VSYNC in graphics settings. Disable Tacview for performance reasons. Disable civil traffic. Tuning tips are recommendations for better FPS based on your CPU, GPU and RAM. They might result in slightly decreased display quality. to add to these suggestions, i see your log just ends. it does not show a crash. have a look in the windows event viewer for a corresponding event around the time of the untimely exit in DCS. sleighzy Posted April 2 Posted April 2 @OMAR , there doesn't appear to be a game crash in the logs, may be Windows killing the process. Can you run the Windows DxDiag tool, save the report, and attach here as well. I see you also have some MFDs and ICP in there as well. Whilst there was a previous known issue with the Winwing ones (yours may be Cougar?), double check that you aren't running DCS as administrator. Can right-click on both the DCS.exe file and your shortcut you use to launch this and make sure "Run as administrator" is unchecked in the compatibility tab. I also see that your TacView is exporting files to your OneDrive. Disable TacView completely as well just to rule it out. Can't recall if TacView exports to this file as you fly, but might want to configure this to export to a different location in case it causes perf issues if it's synching to the cloud. Drop another log when it crashes again after taking those steps plus the ones from silverdevil. Check in your DCS logs directory as well to see if you have any dcs-logs-<timestamp>.zip files as they will have more info if DCS does crash, and not just Windows killing it. 1 AMD 7800x3D, 4080Super, 64Gb DDR5 RAM, 4Tb NVMe M.2, Quest 2
OMAR Posted April 16 Author Posted April 16 Gents, I appreciate the first steps here. I had a brief period of time to work on the issue, but overall still having windows driven crashes back to the desktop. I ran DxDiag and saw no errors in -- I'm on the road again, and forgot to save that report, so I'll have to run it again when I get home. Additionally, I've cleaned up the modules and run the full repair a few times in my troubleshooting (and again the other day for good measure). I also disabled TacView (had another "crash" while it was disabled, so that doesn't seem to be the issue). I checked to make sure the .exe is not being run as administrator (neither the file itself, nor shortcut have that selected). I also checked windows memory (I've used memtest86 before in another troubleshooting issue), but nothing showed there and the symptoms don't seem to point to a memory issue. I'm not having system wide issues, just windows killing DCS in mission. I did have a series of hard crashes from DCS -- never made it to the main menu -- after the most recent update, but it seems to have resolved itself, and I think is unrelated. Aside from that, I did stumble on something about windows reliability monitor and discovered a series of windows record DCS crashes. I've copied the logs of the most recent ones -- any chance ya'll have the secret decoder ring for these reports? I think there'd have to be something in there that may point to a smoking gun, or at least another clue. I see a lot revolving around D3DCOMPILER_47.dll and edCore.dll. Logs attached, in case anyone has some insights, while I try to find the right google fu for some help interpreting these myself. Thank you! Reliability Reports.txt

Thank you! hello again. the reliability monitor is essentially information derived from standard event viewer logs. there are likely (or should be) similar information there that is in the report you shared. D3DCOMPILER_47.dll is a file in directx. you may have a corrupted file. have you run system file checker? sfc /scannow Open Command Prompt as Administrator: Type sfc /scannow and press Enter. Wait for completion: The command will scan your system files and attempt to repair any corrupted ones. Reboot if prompted: After the scan, you might be prompted to restart your computer.
