unclesneep Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Ive had this happen multiple times in different missions with the apache lately. suddenly George will go skitzo and the helo will loose all power and drop from the sky. Before this recording it happened right after takeoff.. always while WASing a weapon. Also attaching track file. wth.trk
450Devil Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Had this happen to me yesterday when flying a SP mission. Thought it might be caused by how I had set (or failed to set) my HOTAS. I have the Power Levers bound to a rotary on my TM Throttle. For my SP mission it was a hot start so the Power Levers were already at 101 percent power. I did not adjust my Power Lever HOTAS rotary so it was physically still in the zero percent power position when I took off. As I was flying along and getting George (via Voice Attack commands) to set up the weapons, the aircraft suddenly lost all power. As I was at a low altitude I quickly pancaked into the ground. Left me wondering if the game suddenly (for some unknown reason) recognised that the Power Levers rotary on my HOTAS was still set to the zero percent power position. @unclesneep - at the time I did not consider any involvement with George but your description of the event above gives me food for thought. I will try and reproduce it and capture a track.
unclesneep Posted April 4 Author Posted April 4 (edited) I dont have my power levers bound to my hotas..so probably not that fir me at least... The weird thing is george suffering from tourettes syndrome when it happens..and like I mentioned before..seems to happen when I have him search for targets. If it were only george freaking out I'd suspect a stuck input on my hotas..but having the helo lose all power and controls at the same time is just strange Maybe someone from ED can look into this.. its happening enilough that I'm starting to expect it... no bueno Edited April 4 by unclesneep
Floyd1212 Posted April 4 Posted April 4 George saying “Armed” over and over again happens when the aircraft loses power while he wants it to be armed. When power is lost, the aircraft is no longer armed, and he tries repeatedly to rearm it. This sounds like a binding issue. Maybe an axis on your pedals or an Xbox controller? 1
unclesneep Posted April 4 Author Posted April 4 I'll double check my bindings today.. but i haven't changed anything
Solution Floyd1212 Posted April 4 Solution Posted April 4 Sometimes DCS will remap controls after an update, often for devices with axis that you never even intended to use that way. You can see in this screenshot just after you "lose power" your throttles have been pulled back to idle. That's when George starts complaining and tries to repeatedly arm the aircraft. 2 1
unclesneep Posted April 4 Author Posted April 4 Awesome.. thanks ill check and see what else is bound to those
Leg2ion Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Oddly had similar the other week - whereby my Warthog throttle slider was mapped to the power levers with a modifier on the main stick. I had been flying cold starts and accompanying shutdowns, then did a quick training mission with a hot start. Got airborne, but when I inadvertently selected the modifier the power levers instantly chopped as the slider was all the way to the rear with resulting loss of power and catastrophic impact with the countryside! That was with a Thrustmaster Warthog. I have recently changed my base to an Ava - and no longer have this issue (obviously had to try!). unclesneep Posted April 4 Author Posted April 4 (edited) looks like i had the axis dial on the left of my orion 2 throttle set to power levers... i hadnt touched it..but seems like the game decided to put the power levers at the state of the axis at random times if that makes sense.. removed the mapping.. i think i should be ok now.
