Hi guys, I'm looking for a campaign where the "management" of the AI wingman is not required.

I understand that in real life no fighter flies solo, but I am not interested in managing DCS AI wingman in any way.

I've been flying DCS since 2010, mostly online with my virtual squadron doing Coops, so I'm not used to or interested in managing AI wingmen.

I'm fine with them there flying along and doin their thing, as long as I don't have to deal with them via radio menu.

I've bought a couple of campaigns that I never finished because of this issue.

I understand that this is my very personal opinion and choice, and many people have no problem with it and even enjoy the functionality of wingman AI management, and that is absolutely fine with me.

I'm simply seeking out campaigns that could be successfully completed without managing or commanding the AI wingman.

I've seen videos of attractive campaigns, particularly for the F/A-18C with the Supercarrier that could be interesting for me, but only if they could be completed without managing the AI Wingman via menu radio.

If you have completed any campaigns that did not require managing the AI wingman, please let me know.

Thanks!

Apache600's Museum Relic

Spring Tension - comes with Mi-8

Oilfield for Mi-8 by Dimitri Koshelev

High Stakes by Dimitri Koshelev

Iron Flag by Baltic Dragon . You have a flight lead and you are being managed as a trainee. Not sure if this counts 😄

Bf109 and Dora Challenge Campaigns - included with modules. P-51 too but it is masochistic and frustrating

Serpent's Head by Badger 633. Free. He has other campaigns in the paid section I haven't tried yet.

Ka-50 Deployment

L-39 Kursant

UH-1 Paradise Lost (as far as I remember?) you still have to manage radios though.

The new BD campaigns like Gamblers and Arctic Thunder, you manage wingmen by simple yes/no using HOTAS, you can get through the campaign without touching the F10 entirely.

Not sure if you're just trying to avoid F10 or you prefer the more casual style and less realistic campaigns (I really enjoy those, see some of them above).

Hi. Thanks a lot ! Very interesting and useful information thanks!

I do not want to depend on the AI performance to complete a mision neither I want to spend time giving instructions to the AI wingman. As I mentioned I am not used to do that and that is not my playstyle.

I like complex, demanding and "realistic" campaings as possible being well aware that single ship is not actually realistic. I am trying to avoid the F10 micromanagement of the AI and most important that I do not depend on the AI performance or lack of it to complete the mission.

At thi moment I was looking for a F/A-18C Campaing preferably a naval one but based on your comment I am going to take a deeper look at Artic Thunder.

Thanks!!

Don't think you can play any of my campaigns without managing the wingman, though in most it is pretty streamlined with the use of F-10 radio menu in some of the missions, so it is hardly a micro-managing. In Raven One and Raven One: Dominant Fury you are very often a wingman yourself and it is you who is being managed (ie. given orders), not the other way around - though of course not in all of them...

If you like demanding, realistic, campaigns, then half of what I listed won't be for you 😄

If you have the Viper, look at the Gamblers. I just wrapped it up last week and it is really really good. Like I said you don't need to touch F10 at all. If you want F-18 and naval, look at Raven One and Raven One: Dominant Fury. In Raven One and similar campaigns, it's more like use F10: *I attack, Weed flies high cover, vs *Have Weed attack, I'll fly high cover. Wingman is, AFAIK, actually a separate flight where your tasks are pushed to "wingmen" smoothly, and they'll actually SPOT the target, attack, and kill the target. No "TWO, UNABLE". (side note, if some day you decide you can tolerate that, the Su-33 Sea Dragon campaign is fun and underrated)

Fear not. Jump in and enjoy. The older Enemy Within and Georgian War *might?* use the build in older F10 systems but Raven One and newer are more streamlined. Those are both AWESOME campaigns; I'm replaying Enemy Within, and enjoyed my second playthru of Georgian War even more, and even picked up a history book on Georgia and the region because of it.. Those older campaigns with really chatty wingmen bring back a lot of nostalgia for my early DCS days.

Thanks Baltic Dragon and Colonel Akir. I think these campaings look awesome but sadly doing „anything“ with AI is not my gameplay. I bought the original Ravel One plus other authors campaings and is some cases I did not even finished mission one.

I do understand that for most players and in line with realism there need to be AI flights and wingman but that is not for me. I know I am a minority here and I do not ask for any changes to the existing model

I started this thread with the hope that there may be some campaings available that may not require AI Wingman.

I have read all Kevin Miller books and I understand that to reproduce the whole story you need those AI wingman. No complains from my side but it is not how I like to play DCS.

Thanks a lot for the prompt answer I believe those campaings are really awesome and with a huge creativity effort !!
