i3lackAngel Posted April 8 Posted April 8 When in this training mission it seems like the green gates end somewhere around half way of the runway point on the downwind leg. After which there is no more guidance for the the rest of the approach or landing. Does anyone have any ideas if this was fixed. Is there another way I can practice my overhead break approach and landing?

i3lackAngel Posted April 23 Author Posted April 23 Hi @BIGNEWY, Wondering if this was looked at? Also if you need help diagnosing the issue. Thank you!
CR1MS0N Posted April 30 Posted April 30 This mission (and really all of the F-18 training missions) is VERY tightly coupled to the gates. If you miss a single gate, you will likely not hear any further narration or guidance until you go back and fly through it. You can tell if you've missed a gate because it will be roughly twice as large as the gates preceding it. The mission you are talking about does in fact have continued instruction after the downwind leg, but it often doesn't play for me if I either miss a gate, or come through the downwind leg too fast (eg. you reach the last gate of the downwind leg before the narration about going full flaps & lowering your landing gear finishes playing). I feel your pain man. While I'm grateful these training missions exist, the UX could be MUCH better. It would be really nice if there was a way to manually control the narration so that you could skip ahead to the practical part of the mission once you have the initial instruction down and just need practice flying it. Good luck! 1

Interesting, I'll try it again. However, the last gate that I see is just "abeam" the runway. After which i don't see any more gates at all. 1
i3lackAngel Posted May 10 Author Posted May 10 nullSo I decided to finally dig into the .miz file @CR1MS0N, This is where I am seeing the issue. If you look at the waypoints it goes up to WYPT 15, which is about 90 degrees from the runway entrance. So the entire base and final have no waypoints. Just a Turn to Final, Touchdown, and End zones
CR1MS0N Posted May 11 Posted May 11 @i3lackAngel That is indeed where the gates end. I think the idea is that they want you to be relying on your HUD symbology and on-speed AoA indicator from there on out, rather than relying on gates to guide your path. However, there is narration that should be triggered by entering the "Turn to Final" trigger zone, if you haven't missed any gates along the way.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted May 12 ED Team Posted May 12 Hi, I have reviewed the mission, the gates ending abeam to the runway threshold is correct, its where you make your turn to final, I think if we added more gates it would distract users from keeping the correct speed and AOA. Focus once the gear is down should be on your E Bracket and adjusting speed. thank you 1 Forum rules - DCS Crashing?
