Night Vision/Infra-red Mode for External Views

I never make missions that start at night due to them being just terrible. Staring at blackness and not being able to see a hill coming up in front of me makes flying at low level not possible in many places. Watching replays of the mission also are almost useless since I can't see much of what's going on. Being able to select night vision for external views at least would make watching them enjoyable.

Night missions are very challenging but fun and rewarding. They were done since the dawn of airborne warfare. That you can't see much works both ways - the enemy can't see you.

If the aircraft is not suited for it you have to rely on the map and navigation. Some can use air-to-ground radars. Some can use NVGs. Some are perfectly suited for night missions - try F-15E and its full package: TFR, A2G radar and NAVFLIR projection on the HUD + NVGs.

The challenge of night flying is part of the sim for sure, but the request here has some merit. Training, video editing, or just dealing with bugs/issues (like the lack of lights on tankers).
