Jarda Posted April 29 Posted April 29 hi, i tried the start procedure according to the video: Starting Mi-24 and i found that the ground crew will not disconnect the ground power. i try it at the same moment as in the video. also the vibration test button is not working. Can someone try the ground power disconnection problem?
kotor633 Posted April 30 Posted April 30 Hello, I'm not entirely sure (we don't have a comprehensive manual yet), but it's possible that the vibration test button function isn't implemented in DCS. Regarding disconnecting ground power: I don't know whether there's currently a bug or not. Or is the error possibly related to your handling? Unfortunately, I can't do much with the video since there's no English translation. 1 ************************************** DCS World needs the Panavia Tornado! Jarda Posted April 30 Author Posted April 30 thanks for the responses. There is an English description with individual times in the comments for the video. Vibration test: ok, maybe it will be added in the future. disconnecting ground power: I tried it again. it has to be disconnected BEFORE starting the APU. That works. But if I want to disconnect after turning on the APU, it doesn't work. I tried disconnecting after starting the engines and that didn't work either. According to the video tutorial from Raffi75, it works the same for me.

Right now, for ground crew to do anything with the helicopter (refueling, arming, airport power) it has to be completely turned off. Previously, it was enough to open the door and give a command. That changed with one of the last patches. 1
Jarda Posted April 30 Author Posted April 30 Hopefully we'll see more updates and fixes throughout the year.
kotor633 Posted April 30 Posted April 30 Hi, Today, after a long absence, I entered the virtual Mi-24 cockpit again. I performed a cold start (with ground power). And then, on page 181 of Chuck's guide, I had an aha moment...this also applies when you want to disconnect ground power. So, Raffi75's statement isn't entirely correct. ************************************** DCS World needs the Panavia Tornado! Really! **************************************

After switching to ICS on the SPU-8 panel, the ground power disconnection (off) works after starting the APU. Interestingly, BEFORE starting the APU, the switch can remain in the Radio position to request ground power connection (on). Edited May 1 by Jarda

Raffi75 Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Great info. I'm glad it works here (in game) and I was wrong. I just hope you know that in real life there is no such communication with ground crew. Switching to ICS allows communication inside the helicopter. 1

Without APU or engines running, it's quite easy for ground crew to hear Mi-8 crew ( and I am guessing it is the same for Mi-24 crew) talking to them. And there is a intercom receptacle for crew-to-ground crew comms. And again, I am talking from real life experience as a GPU operator. Edited May 1 by admiki 1

I didn't write that there is no communication with ground personnel at all, only that there is no communication with ground crew via ICS. There is no ground crew socket on the Mi-24 helicopter in D and W versions. All communication was face-to-face. I know this from my own experience. Edited May 1 by Raffi75 1
Copperfield86 Posted May 14 Posted May 14 Raffi75 you are right. On the Mi-24D/W there was no voice communication with the ground crew, everything was done using special sign language or written on a piece of paper and shown to the crew (e.g. in the case of magnetic deviation removal). Maybe in the Mi-24P version it is different and there is the possibility of connecting headphones to communicate with the crew.
