SuperKermit Posted April 30 Posted April 30 (edited) What would be the most promising tactics in BVR and WVR against the F-4, especially in multiplayer? From my POV those two icons’ performance is quite closely matched... Many thanks in advance for your insights! Edited May 1 by SuperKermit 3
Spirale Posted May 1 Posted May 1 I am curious too, thx for your question I feel that the F1 is on par with the F4 if the F1 is in "good hands". I find the F1 sightly superior @ low speed with combat flaps.
jaguara5 Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Best we can do to answer the question is extensive dogfights. F1C vs F-4E is imo the best DACT duo in DCS, pretty balanced. If someone is interested to do such fights shoot me a message so we can host a specific mission for that training. 1
Caldero Posted May 15 Posted May 15 (edited) Hi From a Spanish Air Force hard wing, not slatted F-4C driver, against an F1 (we had both ac types in Spanish Air Force and DACT sometimes happened): "F-1 was a better dogfighter due to its combat flaps. Stay below 15.000 ft to have some advantage, stay below 10.000 ft to win" But the experience with an F-4E should be different Regards Edited May 20 by Caldero 2
primus_TR Posted May 15 Posted May 15 (edited) In BVR, Mirage F1CE (if dry feet) will 9 out of 10 times detect the Phantom far earlier even at co-altitude and can launch its 530s, as the Phantom's radar suffers a lot (realistically) from ground clutter and noise, which is not the case for Mirage. In WVR, Mirage turns a bit better, but the Phantom is a powerful beast and I usually (if ever) fare better against the Mirage in the vertical when driving the Phantom. So, 99% for Mirage in BVR; 50/50 in WVR. My 2c. Edited May 15 by primus_TR
