I'm a noob with Vista

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I just got DCS: Black Shark and I find that most of the campaigns say they are not compatible with Vista, what's the deal and what can I do about it? Sorry if this has been asked before but I'm a singleplayer only type of player.

Ignore the warning. If your computer is decent it should be no problem. The campaigns you are referring to were actually redone and released about two weeks ago with the vista warning removed. Vista users can actually get a framerate boost by setting the affinity of the game to use both cpu cores (instead of one by default). You can do this manually by alt-tabbing out of the game after the mission loads or you can have it done for you automatically by using this: http://www.lockonfiles.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=251#cat

If you haven't already you'll need to register with the site to download this file but it's definitely worth it.

For the updated campaign files, look here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=2053&scr=products&lang=en

Again, you will have to register to download the file (georgian oil war 1.1) but it's definitely worth it.

If you install BS to the default directory in Vista, Vista will put some files in a 'virtual store' folder located, I believe, under your User name. If Vista should ever not let you edit any lua files, look for them in the folder and location I mentioned.
