Had to delete the previous topic as I was confused at the number. Anyway here are progress pics of the jet. I need to know how to do the numbers and such for the bird, as I'm not familiar with that stuff, just know the basics of skinning (it's been a few years):

Go here: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bazar\Textures

Copy the .zip file and extract it to wherever. Inside you'll see the .dds files for everything you need. The .lua file doesn't need to be touched unless***. As far as the numbers go, those are user input. Make sure they are the same size and position when you make your custom number .dds.

*** A lot of times skinners miss the fact that the numbers show up darker of lighter that the Code Letters. So make sure you're using the same values for black, grey, red, ect. You may also notice the custom tail markings to the top left named 'f15_decol3'. If you are actually painting these on the plane, then set the vaule to 'false' for that file name in the .lua.

!!!    DO NOT USE REGULAR NOTE PAD    !!!
(YOU WILL CORRUPT THE SKIN FILE IF YOU DO)

Use NotePad++ https://notepad-plus-plus.org/

Once you make your .lua or shall I say edit it, make a new folder here: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Bazar\Liveries\F-15C

Then drop all your.dds files you made and your lua inside it. Or alternatively back inside the default folder with the unique names you gave them and re-zip, then drop it back in the 'Bazar\Textures' folder.

Thanks, I just found what I was looking for after supper, so I should be good to go now with the decals and such. I thought it would be harder, but it's not that bad actually. Here's the one I'm shooting for:

Looking better now that I figured things out. Now I need Kurnass's stuff and apply it to the texture:

Yeah, meetoo 😄
Im glad you are a bit more active around here Eric. 😎

Maybe Dave can help a little. AFAICR USAFMTL-Dave (and old friend all of us: R.I.P.-LockOnFiles-Tom Weiss) made Eagle skins in huge quantities 10+ years ago included BT, SP, CR, etc.

Well I'm not sure if Dave will come back, he seems pretty busy. As for more skins? I may, may not, depending on how I feel. I have some other skins in mind, so we'll see.

Tom Weiss die? Or just Lockonfiles.com is no more?

Inside tail area, on both sides (right tail shown) as finding decals for this squadron is well... not working as apparently my Google Fu isn't going well. Anyway:

Right now I'm trying to find reference photos for the intake sides, both left and right. I figured out the decol image and how to use it (obviously), so all I need to know what to put on the sides of the intakes, and should be done. I did request to join an F-15 group on Facebook, so if that goes through, then I can wrap this one up. A Flickr search didn't help either, but did show that the shield is mimicked on each side, so that makes it easier, now just have to find a good image of it, and I'll be set.

Yeah it's good to be seen actually (and good to see you as well). I mean it's been a few years, but I have enough space on my new laptop to fully install DCS, so I can get back into flying (eventually) and skinning again.

Where do we put the F-15C skins? I tried the Saved Games > DCS > Liveries and it did not work.

I've been using the NVIDIA Texture tools that had the DDS plugin, so I save as the default setting, and works fine with the sim and such.

Where did you find the side emblems though? That's all I need (and maybe the patches for the pilot) to do, and having a hell of a time finding it.

If there was something clearer on the first image then I could use it, the stuff gets in the way though. I have one from SOLIDKREATE but I don't know what period it's in. I can see what I can work with though. The bottom photo is better for the tail eagle/bird though, that helps a lot.

And apparently my Flikr-Fu isn't that good either...
