dirkfrimmout Posted May 5 Posted May 5 (edited) Hello, This has been tested on different hardware and different settings and the issue is present as long as the shadows are turned ON in some way. Attachments 3 screenshots, dxdiag, txt, dcs.log. Description: Shadows appear sharp when looking at them at high angles : when the player's headset is pointed directly at a shaded object, the shadows appear blurry or disappear completely. When the player's head is turned away from the object, shadows appear sharp. There is a visible "boundary" where the shadows fade in or out of view or sharpen/blur. Red arrows show the boundary where shadows become blurry/sharp Player looking straight ahead at the helicopter : No shadows Player turns his head away until shadows become visible again. Initial troubleshooting: troubleshot with BIGNEWY on discord and usual suspects (Quadviews, SSLR, SSS, DLSS, Reshade etc..) ruled out already. Hardware: Quest 3 using both Oculus Link and Virtual Desktop. dcs.log DxDiag.txt Edited May 5 by dirkfrimmout Correctly embedded the screenshots into the post 1 1
Qcumber Posted May 5 Posted May 5 (edited) Shadows have always been an issue with VR. I wish that this could be resolved. I just turn them off. Phantom711 Posted May 14 Posted May 14 Yes… I posted about this about a year ago already. There is a mod that kind of helps with the problem. But occasionally I still find shadows a bit blurry or flickering. 1 vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Join the vCVW-17 Discord.
Czar66 Posted May 14 Posted May 14 It is not only VR. It is global....2D as well... Known for ages. There is a improper scaling at distance on the shadowmaps resolution for performance optimization. It is too abrupt. Shadows at maximum settings, btw. Bellow, compare shadows on the F-4, which is near the pov to the tomcats, which are farther away.
