thrustvector Posted June 6 Posted June 6 hey all, been a while since life has let me play, but new pc is here tomorrow, so can i just copy folders over? i remember years ago there was something that it didnt let you do as it checked ? thanks for your support
_Hoss Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Get an external SSD, such as a WD 2TB SSD. I recently built a new computer for flight simulations, and I performed fresh installations of IL-2 and DCS. Then, I copied all the critical files from my old computer (DCS Saved Games) after updating them onto the external SSD and transferred them to the new installation. Worked like a champ. You may not need a 2TB external drive, but one large enough to transfer the files you need from the old computer to the new one. I'm still using the old gamer as my office computer, and the new rig is now part of a dedicated SimPit. The new rig has 5TB of storage, so hopefully I won't run out of space with IL-2 Korea and Combat Pilot installed. But I'll have that 2TB drive just in case. Cheers Sempre Fortis
thrustvector Posted June 7 Author Posted June 7 (edited) Thanks Hoss, I have 2tb internal as well as my external ssd as well, I was worried as years ago there was the point system for your PC when moving stuff, glad that's all gone then and I can just copy it all, thanks for that Edited June 7 by thrustvector
Art-J Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Mind you, your old controller bindings won't work right away after copying them to new PC (because of new GUID numbers), so you'll have to spend some extra time and effort to import them properly, but otherwise you should be OK. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
thrustvector Posted June 8 Author Posted June 8 (edited) Yea I guessed they wouldn't. have a new part there too, so prepar3d for that, Edited June 8 by thrustvector
_Hoss Posted June 9 Posted June 9 Yeah, I went from this setup on the Office Pit mess.... To this with a SimFab DCS edition SimPit.. Sempre Fortis
