algherghezghez Posted June 25 Posted June 25 Hi reflected! I'm currently flying the phantom's red flag and artic thunder, and I was wondering if altimeter settings are taken into considaration. in artic thunder with the datalink I noticed that often my leader is flying at a different altiture than the briefed one, so I reckoned maybe I'm on the wrong altimeter setting. How do you set your campaings? are we supposed to fly always on qnh? or once cleared to a flight level switch to qne? I'm not an expert in how military set their altimeters but I guess them too switch to standard above transition altitude.
Reflected Posted June 25 Posted June 25 It's not up to me, it's hard coded into the AI. I just set 20k for altitude, and that's it. 2 Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
algherghezghez Posted June 25 Author Posted June 25 Oh ok, I tought you were manually offsetting the altitudes to correct for the altimeter setting (i.e. FL 260 with qnh 1000 on the ground, 13hpa to std, 13*27 (ft*hpa) = 351 ft, so setting the ai to fly 25,649ft) but I guess I was reading too much into it. So in your campaings it is correct not to change the altimeter but to keep it in qnh correct?
Reflected Posted June 25 Posted June 25 The AI needs to follow the altimeter setting too. If they don't, then that's a problem in ED's code 1 Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
