Knubinator Posted June 27 Posted June 27 So when I go to start it, I go reserve fuel, battery, fuel pump, prime about 6-7 seconds. Hit the starter, when it catches, bump the mixture a notch, and it kills the engine. If I leave the mixture closed and the starter going, it starts the engine as normal, and it runs fine even with the mixture all the way closed as long as the starter is on, I can even run up the engine and take off like that. Is there a bug I'm running into, or am I just really missing something here? Does it in the tutorial and in cold start missions. I've attached the track, if that helps. ldnz Posted June 28 Posted June 28 I struggled with this initially, get the RPM over 500 before you kick in mixture and let go of the start switch. Might need to bump the throttle a little bit once it fires to get it over 500. Start switch must be let go after mixture is on, otherwise it seems to flood and stop, 2
GTFreeFlyer Posted June 28 Posted June 28 Sounds like maybe your throttle isn’t open 1 inch? Make sure to use checklists if you aren’t already. There are a few ways that will work. I turn on the mags before using the starter switch because that’s easier with my bindings. With the throttle open 1”, hold starter switch until you see 500 RPM, then feed in the mixture, then continue to hold the starter switch another second or two before releasing. Then, it should be running and the throttle needs to be brought up quickly to keep 750 RPM on the engine. LastMissionTrack.trk 6.97 MB · 0 downloads Mixture: Lever aft-> Cut Off Lever middle position -> Auto Lean Lever forward position -> Auto Rich It sounds to me as if you have swapped the Mixture positions. Make sure you start in the cut off potision (lever aft). As soon as the engine starts, the mixture goes into the full forward or Auto Rich position. Lee Dove Posted June 28 Posted June 28 Hi, I had this issue. It turns out that when you advance the mixture lever you need to turn off the starter at the same time. If you try starter and anything but idle cut-off mixture the engine dies. Doing this I get 100% starts now.

I hold the starter and as soon as the engine starts, I increase the mixture and then release the starter. So the starter and Auto Rich run simultaneously for a short time and my engine still starts.

felixx75 Posted June 28 Posted June 28 But he writes that his engine stops as soon as he moves the mixture lever. Not after a few seconds...
