M1Combat Posted June 30 Posted June 30 Please stick to the topic at hand... which is the fact that you can pull the prop governor lever beyond it's limit to spin the engine to 4200RPM. I'm willing to accept there's a chance this is working correctly but I suspect not. There's a vid from @hind75 that explains that you can set the Prop Governor Handle axis to "slider" and then use the mouse to manipulate the axis possibly farther than what you can do IRL. I've got three screenshots in this linked thread that show 3700, 3900 and 4200 revs. Someone else mentioned 4200 RPM as well. I know the info is out there, I'm mostly just providing screenshots and trying to make this specific issue stand out as it's slightly buried in that thread about speed and power. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/375234-engine-poweraircraft-speed/page/5/#comment-5664402 Nvidia RTX3080 (HP Reverb), AMD 3800x Asus Prime X570P, 64GB G-Skill RipJaw 3600 Saitek X-65F and Fanatec Club-Sport Pedals (Using VJoy and Gremlin to remap Throttle and Clutch into a Rudder axis)
Hayrake YE-ZB Posted June 30 Posted June 30 Wouldn’t the prop hub shatter before it hit 4200 rpm, disintegrating the engine along with it?
M1Combat Posted June 30 Author Posted June 30 "Please stick to the topic at hand... which is the fact that you can pull the prop governor lever beyond it's limit to spin the engine to 4200RPM." You can pull the prop governor lever beyond it's limit to spin the engine to 4200RPM. I don't care what "would happen". I care that it's highly unlikely (though I'm not the person who decides that part...) that the pilots who flew these were wizards who could magically place their hand on the prop governor and then cause the engine to act like they had pulled it farther... even though it hasn't moved. What I'm saying is... I'm not in the judgement game. No matter how likely or unlikely it is. I'm reporting what doesn't seem right and have provided what I believe to be evidence of something not working right. It's up to the devs to decide if this is working as designed. I've given my thoughts on the subject... but since you didn't read them I'll quote myself here... "I'm willing to accept there's a chance this is working correctly but I suspect not." Hayrake YE-ZB Posted June 30 Posted June 30 Take it easy there Tex. The real manual (AN 01-45HA-1) has a section on the propellor governor control that shows a limite of 2700rpm. It says that the governor will limit the rpm to 3060 even in a maximum allowable diving speed. So the hack that people are using is obviously wrong and needs to be fixed. Everyone understands that. They’re exploiting it because some pilots can’t seem to obtain proper airspeed, or are confused about altitude vs actual OAT and IAS vs TAS.

felixx75 Posted July 1 Posted July 1 (edited) No, there is not even a small chance that 3500+ RPM is NOT a bug. Max RPM is 2700, maximum allowed RPM is 3060 for a short time during a dive. All my axis that have not a centre are "sliders". This doesn't really have anything to do with it, but should be standard so that such axis work properly (e.g. throttle, brakes, rotary control, etc.). Edited July 1 by felixx75
Sprool Posted July 2 Posted July 2 I think this issue is now well reported as a bug, but for me the corsair still does feel quite underpowered. Having never flown one in real life Im comparing it to the other warbirds in dcs and watching caps somewhat light-hearted ww2 plane drag race video
