Firebugs Posted July 2 Posted July 2 I'm using a butt kicker with Sim Haptic software and it's not picking up a stall, ever. I haven't been able to perform any maneuver at any speed to get it to buzz for "stall". 1
GTFreeFlyer Posted July 3 Posted July 3 Has your software released an update (to include the Corsair) ever since the Corsair was released? I enjoy creating content for the community. I haven't been able to perform any maneuver at any speed to get it to buzz for "stall". I'm using SimHaptic and now stall seems to come on way to early and some times due to certain engine settings. I've got a thread started on their discord about it. I agree initially when the module came out there didn't seem to be any stall haptic coming through, but now it's going off all the time. I wonder if this is related to this:
Spidey002 Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Saw in his Discord yesterday that Sim Haptics won’t be getting anymore updates till January. Might check SimShaker for Aviators (with sound module add-on for the ButtKickers). Those guys are on top of things. 1

Just sharing here that if you go this route, you will need to get their current beta version for the Corsair feedback. They just added the Corsair recently, but haven't moved it to their stable release yet. I've flown with it for a few days now, no issues, just in case beta stuff scares you, which would be ironic flying the Corsair 1 I enjoy creating content for the community. Downloaded SimShaker and got it running with the sound add on module as Spidey002 suggested. Haven't done much testing/tuning yet.
GTFreeFlyer Posted August 25 Posted August 25 I have a bass shaker connected to an amp, which is connected a USB sound card. Picked it all up on Amazon a few years ago for a little less than $150 IIRC. 1 I enjoy creating content for the community. Missions, lua scripts, and kneeboards. I suspect you've already discovered this by now, but you should be very pleased with that setup. After my VPRhino FFB base and VR, I think the UShake6 is my favorite piece of sim kit. Definitely follow the setup directions carefully and dial back the windows volume to that device to 50% before testing or playing with the SimShaker values. I about Marty McFly'd myself out of my sim seat firing the Apache gun the first time. 1

I never did really get dialed in when using SimHaptic, and I'm just getting started with SimShaker now. Do you have values in SimShaker you like for the Corsair you can share? As for setup directions, are you referring to SimShaker's directions? FFB stick and possible rudders are on my list too.

SimShaker for Aviators + Sound Module is outstanding. The "50% volume" instruction I referenced is in the actual UShake6 setup instructions in Windows when you're creating the new sound device. (https://simracingstudio.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/35000192912-u-shake6-setup search the pagee for "50" and you'll find the step) From there, SimShaker will have its individual parameters you can tune (you'll probably want to dial these down to your taste as well; the UShake6 can put out some serious volume and rumble). Sadly no Corsair-specific settings to share as I'm just getting into the Corsair this past week and haven't downloaded the SSFA beta with the Corsair profile yet. But that might be a project for tonight. I'll keep you posted -- I tune most of my warbirds the same. (The only thing I'd consider changing in your case is increasing stall buffet feedback, as I get get that through my FFB stick primarily) Edited September 12 by Thundersmoke 1

Followed all the instructions, but SimShaker seems not-so-great as compared to SimHaptic. I'm using the beta with the Corsair profile. There is no variation in feedback from the motor with changes in throttle position or RPM. Overall all of the shakes seem pretty weak, even cranking them up to 100 and enabling boost on the sound module. Things like gear and flap movements are just a couple of quick blips rather than a constant vibration during travel. Gun shakes are too tame. Stall is way to tame. I think I need to either find a profile or start making my own with .wav files. Andre has a thread on the forums here I may hit him up there and see what I'm doing wrong.

I would double-check the install and setup as I downloaded the beta, and the Corsair gives long, sustained feedback on wing fold and flap movement for me. How do the sound module test tones feel? Also probably worth testing on a more mature module of any type. UShake6 should *not* be giving off tame vibrations unless we manually tame it or something’s wrong. 1
Roadhouse Posted Wednesday at 03:43 AM Posted Wednesday at 03:43 AM After playing with both SimShaker and SimHaptic for a while now, I have some observations. Overall I just prefer SimHaptic. The shakes are stronger, more complex, and customizing is easier and offers more options. It appears Andre from SimShaker is more involved in the community and seems to respond a lot faster than SimHaptic, but pound for pound, I find SimHaptic to be the better experience. That said, the F4U is sending some weird telemetry that is breaking some haptics regardless of which app is used. The stall shake works with SimShaker... it appears to be a function of AoA as it should. In SimHaptic, the stall shake appears to use something else entirely, and the "cockpit shakes" slider in the DCS special menu appears to be a scalar value for whatever is driving the shaking. When cockpit shakes is set to 0, SimHaptic never detects a stall. When it is set to 200, stall shaking is persistent under all conditions. In the default 100... well it kind of is sorta right? Not really, but its the closest value that results in shakes occasionally aligning with actual stalls. Neither SimHaptic nor SimShaker work with cannon fire in the F4U. I initially thought they were tame, but after isolating them it turns out they simply don't work at all. Bomb/fuel and rocket release work with both, no guns. Another observation, using both simultaneously works fine. I've been able to disable all haptics except stall on SimShaker, and run it alongside SimHaptic (with its goofy stall disabled, but other haptics enabled) without issue. I just find SimShaker haptics to be really weak as compared to SimHaptic. I could live with simply finding a way to make the guns shake (with either app) at this point.
Lt_Jaeger Posted Wednesday at 07:38 AM Posted Wednesday at 07:38 AM Did you check unlimited ammo is off? With it turned on, simshaker does not detect the "moving ammo counter" and those not playing the effect. Should be true for all aircraft models.... 1

Shakes also work with cannon fire from all other modules except F4U.

Turns out I was using missions for "testing" that had unlimited ammo, despite having it off in the global settings. Dumb. So gun haptics do in fact work just fine with the F4U. Thanks!
