buur Posted July 7 Posted July 7 done a mission with the radio settings from the manual on Caucasus (page 37) and can hear only Anapa and this on all channels. Testing it on Marianas WWII only Agana is detectible. 1
Rockrend Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Take a look at this video but note that due to changes in the last update, the previous issue with the CW/Voice switch on the C-38 control unit have now been fixed. It should now be set to CW, as opposed to Voice. Also note that the CW/Voice switch on the C-26 must be set to Voice. This ensures you are using the preset channel/frequency on the C-38, not the manual frequency on the C-26.

scoobie Posted July 9 Posted July 9 (edited) I haven't figured it out, but there's definitely something to it. I've been struggling to get the system to work and it may have something to do with particular frequency you set - probably it is about whether this frequency is already "occupied" by some other station/transmitter on the map or not. If it is occupied by anything else (a "clash of frequencies", so to speak), then - perhaps - the NAV radio somehow "fails safe" to (always) the VHF transmitter on the map with the lowest frequency? Or something like this? It happens to be Anapa in Caucasus (121 MHz in VHF band). I don't claim it's a bug, but it makes you scratch your head especially because you can communicate with the Essex via comms radio on this "wrong" frequency no problem (at least I could!). Confusing. @buur - please do me and yourself a favor and try... I think I've set 118 MHz (if not, it was 119 MHz - either of the two). So, on Caucasus map: - set Essex frequency to 118 MHz, set the unit's name to something strange/unique (e.g. "ESX" or "XXX") so that you can be sure you're hearing your Essex, - set comms radio preset 1 to 118 MHz (top bunch of presets in ME), - set "nav" radio preset 1 to 118 MHz (bottom bunch of presets in ME). And check if it works. It worked for me. --- Earlier, when I set 124 MHz (which is Krymsk), I was getting... I think it was "MNM" (which makes no sense, so maybe it was "ANA"?, my brain is all rust, A is dot-dash, M is dash-dash, I can't remember what I was hearing) and the "bearing Morse code"... I think it was letter "H", 4 dots (rusty brain again) - it didn't change when I was circling around the Essex (sailing near Sukhumi-Babushara I think), so I knew I was receiving a different transmitter, not Essex. Then - out of despair - I tried 124.5 MHz. I don't even know if it's a "legal" channel on VHF, but the result was exactly the same as with 124 MHz. Interestingly, I could communicate with the carrier over comms radio (COMMS, not NAV) - both for 124 MHz and 124.5 MHz - Mother was responding no problem, stating her weather etc. Last piece of the puzzle is the Youtube video I watched where the guy set 124 MHz (that's why I set 124 MHz, too) - I thought it should work, but didn't. Maybe the guy just set ANY frequency for the sake of the video and didn't check if it works or maybe... it worked for him before the patch and not for me after the patch? No idea. Anyway, setting a "vacant" frequency (with no decimals, round megahertz) seems to make the thing work alright. buur Posted July 9 Author Posted July 9 Follow your instructions and get the Essex class carrier. But no luck with airbases when I use the preset channels. Try to get the airbases manually with the C-26 remote controller. Found the airbases on following frequencies (if the ARC-5 shows frequencies) which not compare to the normal ATC frequencies found on the map. ANA 225; map. 250 KRD 238; map 251 Nov 249; map 252 Kry 261; map 253 MAY 275; map 254 Think there is a problem in the programming of the navigation radio. @scoobie to help your brain try a morse tree for your kneeboard: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3345609/
buur Posted July 9 Author Posted July 9 ok, I should look in the manual. For the ATC frequencies. There is no correlation Zitat NOTE 1: As there is no correlation between the frequency range on the C-26 remote, the manual frequencies are set automatically at mission launch. Each airfield on the map will have a specific frequency. The frequencies are distributed in equal increments over the frequency range of the C-26 remote. The lowest frequency is always allocated to the aircraft carrier, if available. This is a convention specific to the simulator.
scoobie Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Ooh! Good catch! I haven't read the manual (not that it's too long to read), been too busy making myself comfortable in the cockpit (control bindings) etc., bought the module just a few days ago. Speaking of this manual frequency feature... I guess some multiplayer server owners will ask for a realism option to have the land bases removed from this nav radio (as in other birds you don't have such "cheat" for navigation), but I don't do MP. For single player it's a nice-to-have feature, I guess - if you don't like it, find it lame or immersion-breaking, just don't use it, fair enough. Magnitute (who are since Corsair called "LEATHORNUCKS", haha) - they do like to tinker with radios (I mean first they did those "DIY" NDB beacons for MiG-21, now this.) Oh, and thank you for the "tree" - smart little thing, I'll try it, it's my chance... one in a million, I'll give it a go. 1 i7-8700K 32GB 3060Ti 27"@1080p TM Hawg HOTAS TPR TIR5 SD-XL 2xSD+ HC Bravo button/pot box
AG-51_Razor Posted July 11 Posted July 11 In reality, this navigation system was used for land bases but not with regularly changing codes. I'm just not sure whether it was in Europe or the Pacific. 1 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
buur Posted July 11 Author Posted July 11 It was definitely in the pacific. No idea about Europe. See here a chart from the new Hebrides from the Smithsonian https://timeandnavigation.si.edu/multimedia-asset/ye-zb-chart-new-hebrides 1
450Devil Posted Monday at 01:13 AM Posted Monday at 01:13 AM Great find. Chart center appears to be Million Dollar Point on Espiritu Santo. Although it would not get that name until after the end of WWII when the US Forces bulldozed all their now redundant equipment / vehicles into the sea rather than return those assets to the USA. Been there - seen it.
