F-14 with the paveway II/III without LANTIRN?!

Hi,

I am wondering when if F-14 carries the paveway II/III bombs without LANTIRN, and what I can do:

1. buddy laser targeting 

2. CCIP/CCRP (I can do the dumb bomb instead, why I need paveway for?)

What else I can do?

Yes, you can absolutely carry Paveways without a pod and have them buddy lased or use them as dumb bombs.

The whole reason for LGBs was precision, far beyond what was achievable with dumb bombs. It is used in the great mission "Watching The Devildog" where JTACs are calling for CAP and lase the targets.

And the first Tomcat drop of bombs in combat were VF-41 in Bosnia, dropping LGB that were buddy lased. It wasn't until '99 during Allied Force that they dropped self-lased LGBs in combat.
