Ebodee Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 is pretty good so I think I like the new trim implementation. Better for sure, easier to use, and I can trim myself into a hover much faster now. Way to go ED, you sold me!
redtail Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Sold me too once I changed .... HelicopterTrimmerZoneRudder = 5.0; The value of 5 made a world of difference for me! I had given up on the new trimmer option until I read a post about changing the value to 5, now I'm hooked!!! Works like a charm........This patch is AWESOME! ~Redtail~ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Ovenmit Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I never had a problem with the old trimmer, but I do like the new one more. It just "feels" better Whats changing the value to 5 do? Would it help with my crappy logitech extreme 3d twist stick or is it more for the folks with rudder pedals? Endoplasmic Reticulum Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I had some weird and interesting flights until I understood the logic behind the trimmer. And from that time on it was no problem using the trimmer. Only one thing was quite strange. When trimming to a hovering position it seems that the slightest misadjustment of the trimmer makes the helicopter draw an interesting Tango-style track memory on the Abris. Sometimes I got too close into the launch envelope of sams without noticing that my heli was moving. Slowly and unnoticable for the normal eye but when checking ther ABRIS I culd clearly see the traces on the screen. With the new update, I noticed that I could trim it more precisely and it stands there where i want it to stay. I'm not sure if it really is because of the new patch, or if I've just gained better hovering-practice in general.:joystick: I used to love her, but I had to kill her I had to put her, six feet under And I can still hear her complain A tribute to BBetty and NNadja :bye_3:

Havner Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 (edited) I prefere the new trimmer implementation as well (at least the idea), but for some reason it doesn't fully work for me as it should or there is something I don't understand. Scenario 1: Controls in neutral, heli on the ground. I start, pitch forward, get some speed, stabilize the flight (with joy pitched forward) and hit trimmer. Now as I understand the flight profile should be saved and joy should have no control up to the moment I put joy back to neutral position. In general it works this way with an exception that I get some pitch change in the moment I hit trimmer. It pitches up (or down) a little without even slightly change on RCTRL-Enter window. Scenario 2: From the above point I fly forward in stabilized flight, joy is in neutral position, heli is trimmed to fly forward. Without touching a joy i sequentially hit trimmer button. The same as above happens. Heli pitch goes up a little (which is visible without problem) but the RCTLR-Enter rhombus doesn't change it's position. By sequentially hitting trim button I can significantly change heli's pitch. All autopilot channels are turned on. EDIT: I assume that would be the answer: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=568723&postcount=16 Edited August 15, 2009 by Havner [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
