Just got today Thrustmaster AVA Base

Help out an old retired man. I have been flying this sim since Lock On and have most modules and maps. Flew props before that. I bought the Wart Hog Hotas when it came out and it still use it today. Loved the A-10 so I will keep the original stick and decide to mount it on the new base and keep the throttle. I like to go back to my roots and fly props more and I have the Corsair.

Long story short any recommend setup for WW2 birds? I will still fly A-10 from time to time but 90% props.

Thanks all for your gracious time.

Yep the old throttle is a keeper, for me Its duties now are pure helicopter throttles whilst the main workload has passed onto the newcomers... virpil.

Seems strange that the F16/Hawg grip is not recognised... could it be that your grip is so old it's electronics is not recognised?

For sure under normal circumstances this is not normal for the AVA and hawg, firmware upgrade perhaps?

Was there a change in the connector configuration? ( I briefly read this somewhere).

Thanks for the response.

My old A-10 stick still works under the old base. When I sit in the AVA Base it is recognize as AVA {R} Viper. Axis works but no buttons.

Do a firmware update in your target software either as is with the AVA or with the original setup.

It is very odd for a thrustmeter product to not recognise one of its products... in fact it is spooky strange. UPDATE EVERYTHING!

Hopefully it is not something with the AVA base. I have multiple old WH sticks and all work with the AVA...

Me Also, I dont know if this is the difference. I got mt Hotas Warthog first day on sale in fact I was one one those the throttle quadrant was bricked and they sent out a new one to me. There might have been a slight upgrade a few years after mine I don't know just guessing.  Saturday, I get the new Viper stick and we shall see. My paddle broke on old one so a new one not a bad thing. Even with the A-10 stick out it still sees a Viper stick. Maybe the base defaults Viper not sure.

Make sure you have all the latest drivers, even TARGET has been updated. I have the AVA base with an F/A-18 stick on it, and when I updated the drivers my RSMapper software kept giving me hiccups. Go into Thrustmaster Control panel (Start/Thrustmaster/Thrustmaster Control Panel) if you don't see it, you don't have the drivers installed correctly. Once in there, look for your AVA base and make sure the firmware is up to date... no matter if you might think it is... Thrustmaster is going to ask you right off if everything is installed correctly. If you see your stick and all the buttons and axis' are working in the Control Panel, then it's a DCS problem not seeing your stick. I had to redo all my in game axis when I updated the drivers and Firmware. That's when it saw my stick as a Hornet (R) stick. It used to just be Hornet stick. Do a rescan of devices and then a slow repair of the game. Good luck.. glad to see you're still around Stanger...

Good to cya again Hoss. When my AVA base is plug in without stick this what shows up. AVA  {R} Viper. I don't know if that is normal without stick. I did the driver package first like you said then when to the Thrustmaster TM Master Flight Folder and did the firmware. My original A-10 stick when it first came out won't recognize which is ok. Tomorrow my new Viper stick is coming really needed a new one and shall see if it can work. I do have a support ticket and surprise they have not answer me. yet.

Well got my new Viper stick put it on the AVA base and it works no problem. I do have to remap but that's ok, I needed a new stick anyway. It is deferent feel to it nice and smooth. I have not heard back from Thrustmaster support about why the old A-10 stick would not work. I am more curious about if they find anything.

Thanks all and Salute to Hoss.

Do you mean the Falcon(F-16), Warthog (A-10) stick?.... or the Hornet (F/A-18) stick?... There is a Viper TQS throttle system (F-16), I have the seperate Viper Panel button box... on my right side... and I like the Hornet stick the best.

When you received your AVA base did it come with the new dampers already installed?, and with the FBW cams included?.. I didn't like the FBW cams at all, I might try them again and turn down the spring tension and compensate with the new dampers..... But I'm still using the Jet cams, and hard springs, with a 200 mm curved extension. It feels much better with the dampers installed.

II got the Falcon  F-16 stick. Their description is Viper Hotas Add-On Grip. The duplicate of A-10. I still like flying A-10 so I still us throttle A-10 for my props also.  Did not come with Dampers or FBW Cams. I started with Aero cams and soft spring. Little too soft around the dead zone for me. I am trying medium now. I like the soft in the backend so maybe soft with dampers might work. I don't have extension because it sits on a desk. So now I am the exploring side to figure out what I like. I do know the stick feels smooth and easier for fine adjustments.

Can't wait for Pacific assets to come. Flying the Corsair and Jug go hand in hand for me. Jug was used a lot in Saipan and Tinian with FAC and Napalm sounds like a real blast.

Thanks for input and hearing from you again. It was a lot of fun flying with you in the 361st.

Salute
