Connery Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Ok I really don't know where to start. I bought this game and was really really looking forward to playing however I cannot set my CH Setup at all. I have joystick throttle and rudder pedals. It appears that the rudder pedals appear to be oeverriding ALL of the control inputs...... result in the helicopter just flipping constantly. This is VERY irritating..... Anyone got any ideas on what could be wrong ? A detailed guide to configuring would be nice :) And Yes I set the Axis for Cyclic Pitch, Roll, Flight Control Rudder and Collective...... its STILL not working properly..
Connery Posted August 13, 2009 Author Posted August 13, 2009 This is bound to be something really dumb I can tell........ but seeing as I have been trying to fix it for 8 hours i think it's time to go to bed now the sun has come up...... I get the feeling my rudder pedals is interfering with my collective... both are set to Joy Z one on rudder pedals and the other Joy Z on Throttle....... Throttle being collection Z on pedals being rudder.......... aaarrrggghhhhhhhhhh
104th_Crunch Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 (edited) Well for sure it is not BlackShark. The place to get CH info is http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum Really with the info you have given it is hard to trouble shoot your problem. Are you using the CH manager? Does your stuff work in other sims? " both are set to Joy Z one on rudder pedals and the other Joy Z on Throttle......." Well, for sure if both are set as the same device number and both are Z-Axis, they will conflict, but if that was the case CH Manager would not let you load the profile with the conflict. Connery Posted August 13, 2009 Author Posted August 13, 2009 I am not using CH Manager - the gear DOES work in other Sims just not DCS blackshark.....
Connery Posted August 13, 2009 Author Posted August 13, 2009 I have now just imstalled CH Manager - that seems ok I have narrowed the problem down to the toe control on the CH pedals...... they seem to be interfering heabily with the cyclic - anyone know if there's anyway to turn the toe controls oFF ?
104th_Crunch Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Yes, use the CH Manager to set the Toe Breaks to have an axis of 'none'.
Connery Posted August 13, 2009 Author Posted August 13, 2009 (edited) The problem with the CH manager is everytime I start it detects my devices...... over and over again installing hardware.... is this normal ? I even tried someones setup from the CH Forums.... for DCS blackshark and I still have an issue whereby the toe action on my pedals is interfering with my cyclic...... The file I downloaded resolved the issue with the collective..... So now the only problem that appears to remain is... the toe action on pedals is interfering with the cyclic...... :( I installed this game orginally a few months ago and it worked fine without the CHManager........ and then the game randomly lost all my settings. The game I love, the interface for controlling everything needs work it is NOT easy to figure out. I am almost on 2 days now of trying to sort these issues :( Edited August 13, 2009 by Connery
104th_Crunch Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 "The problem with the CH manager is everytime I start it detects my devices...... over and over again installing hardware.... is this normal ?" Initially you will have to go through quite a few screens, but you only need to do this once. Now I am thinking you are just not undetsanding how to setup an axis within Blackshark. Make sure you slect the Axis Comaands in the drop down list. Delete all your non-CH related entries. What are your toe brake axis' setup to use in Blackshark?
Connery Posted August 13, 2009 Author Posted August 13, 2009 Crunch CH Manager definately detects over and over and ocer again. As for the axis commands I am using that to setup my axis..... I still have the issue. However I don't know what the toe action is setup to....... I don't see it where would this be ?
HitchHikingFlatlander Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 One thing to make sure is to check all axis assignments in game and make sure the axis' are not double mapped. I had this very problem with my Saitek gear when first starting the sim. What I did was delete every axis command (for any and every controller then re-assigned the commands. I know you mentioned you set up the axis' properly but did you delete all the axis' commands first? Whatever it is its gotta be something simple! Check what I mentioned to see if that may be the problem. http://dcs-mercenaries.com/ USA Squad

If you are cancelling the setup then be patient and install each device as it asks you. It takes a while. The one advantage of using a custom CH profile with the buttons sending out the default Blackshark commands is if you need to reinstall BS, then the CH profile will be ready to use. If you continue without CH Mgr and just use your stuff direct. In the 'Axis Commands' page of the Blackshark options you will see your devices listed at the top. Each device will have it's own column. For the CH Pro Pedals look down the column. Each CH Pro Pedals axis that is mapped will be listed there. Highlight the entry for the toebrake(s) and click the clear button at the bottom of the screen to delete it. If you are not using your toe brakes you should only have one listing in the CH Pro Pedals column, 'Joy Z' for 'Flight Control Rudder'.
Connery Posted August 18, 2009 Author Posted August 18, 2009 Thanks to all who have responded and tried to help. Unfortunately I have tried unmapping All axis in game and re-adding and this issue still persists. It's not my CH Gear as it works fine in other SIMS - Flight Sim X and Aces High 2 for example. I am now at my wits end and about to give up as it's been over a week now trying to fix this. It's a shame such a wonderful is ruined for me now. The game now won't even detect my CH Fighterstick but as I said earlier it's fine in other sims. I think I may as well just give up :(
Ed Hunter Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 have you added the patch ? if so that could screw up you ch settings it did for me and i had to re install the game then the patch then config the axis had the start of a map on ch control so not much was lost was it working at all try doing a rescan of the joysticks in ch so it shows as fighter stick ect not control manager device 1 ect dont down load the map to the sticks and try BS with that [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
