I have for a while had issues with DCS locking up for multiple seconds every so often. It would play fine on my settings for most of the time, but then it would just stop for anywhere up to say 10 seconds, and then come back and run fine again. Not the usual micro-stutters that all my searching turned up. But anyway, I tried the "process lasso" (I'm actually using the open source Process Governor tool) and it has resolved the random lock ups! Huzzah!

Except... I now get a modestly annoying issue, only in the main menu screen, whereby the mouse locks up and lags/stutters about. I can navigate just with difficulty, and once in-sim the mouse works fine. Not the biggest issue, but still annoying. Anyone else seen this / have any ideas? For whatever reason disabling the ecores seems to be the culprit.

do you have win 11 or 10? general consensus is 11 does better with cpu management. i believe most users have abandoned the various cpu managers. unfortunately i do not suffer any problems with 11th gen i9.

  • Disable any CPU managers.
  • Keep your CPU at factory settings.
  • Cap your framerates so your CPU doesn't choke on some frames here and there.

For some reason DCS currently doesn't like some high polling rate mice in the main menu.  Seems to be >500 mhz causes issues with them.  Do a search around the forums and there are a number of posts on that.

Still on windows 10. Will have to bite the bullet eventually 🙃Yeah I saw something about mouse polling rates. Need to google mine, it has 4 levels but doesn’t explain what they are ><

Maybe win 11 will just fix it? Urgh. The amount of decrapification I’ll have to do.

i personally upgraded recently and had no issues. i think there was a tad better performance.

I have the same issue in the menu and I'm not disabling e-cores at all. I'm trying to pinpoint the cause and noticed that disabling Hyperthreading kind of fixes the issue in the main menu. Sadly, it seems that fps are less stable once in the cockpit, so it is a dead end for me. I keep reading that lowering the polling rate of the mouse seems to help, but I don't know how to do that in my Logitech MX Master 3. I have to say it is really annoying, even if it seems fine once in-sim.

I’ve tried to use the lowest polling rate the mouse supports and still got the issue.
Overall the ecores tweak is great! It has removed the long pauses during flight which are a real immersion killer and really painful at critical moments. So I wouldn’t go back to that… I guess I’ll report back once I’ve upgraded to 11.

Thanks for the suggestions all 👍

hello. you both should start your own topic in case your issue causes are different. post you DCS.LOG in the new topic.
