HR-Crumble Posted yesterday at 12:56 AM Posted yesterday at 12:56 AM Hi all I have been looking at learning the Corsair to find the engine management power settings for MP/RPM/Fueling all at the different alts. The three sources I have are attached in order: 1. The actual Magnitude supplied manual. 2. A digitally replicated (from user files) of the stamped card inside the modules cockpit left hand side. 3. A regularly quoted and provide F4U-1D with the water injected engine ACTUAL flight manual. If you look closely the most common power and engine settings differ for Take Off/Rated(max con)/Cruise/Economy cruise. Can anyone, preferably Magnitude, please provide us with the correct settings to use. Take for example the Max Rated settings - the cockpit card shows a different fuel mix to the actual IRL manual. Next, take for example, max cruise - all three sources show different MP/RPM/Fuel mix settings. How can the internal cockpit card be different to the actual magnitude manual and be different to the actual IRL manual. Magnitude please can you help us out and clarify so we can get the most out of this awesome module - as you know warbirds engines are delicate and you need to master and rote memorise the settings but you can’t do that if the source material is all different.
Saxman Posted yesterday at 02:55 AM Posted yesterday at 02:55 AM There's definitely problems with the modelling. Trying to run WEP at full RPM overboosts the engine and causes it to knock. It very much shouldn't be doing that. Also, WEP should be at 2700rpm all the way up, as shown in the actual flight chart, NOT 2550 as in the kneeboard data. The actual flight data shows different blower settings from what the module uses, as well. WEP blower should be neutral below 8000ft, not Low at 5000. Boost is also too low in the kneeboard data, with 57.5in below 8000ft, 59in between 8000-17,000ft, and 59.5 above 17,000. So once again, that kneeboard data is wrong, and if that's what the engine modeling is based off of, then the modeling is incorrect, as well. Which means right now the Corsair isn't able to get all the power from the engine it should be because you can't use rated power settings without killing it. 1
HR-Crumble Posted yesterday at 07:02 AM Author Posted yesterday at 07:02 AM Thanks for the reply and the details. So it seems there are inconsistencies with the data sources as well as the model. can I ask which settings you use for Rated, cruise and WEP then in order to not damage the engine?
Saxman Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago I would go by the kneeboard chart for right now, because the POH will just break your engine.
Art-J Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Crumble, if you looked close enough, you'd notice cockpit card texture was made based on dash 8 non-water-injected version of the engine and not what "ours" should be in 1D Corsair, so it's incorrect anyway. M3 guys are still tweaking their engine code, so I suppose even they can't answer your question for the time being, as some parameters are going to change in upcoming patches. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

Okay that’s good to know! Any reason why we can’t get a 1D with water injection card in a 1D aircraft? Was it an intentional design decision to leave the wrong card in perhaps? Or historically were they never updated?
-Rudel- Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago (edited) Ok, first off, the game manual is early access too. I'm currently updating it, and will have all corrected numbers once I get the final numbers from the programmers Secondly, use the manuals dated 1 December 1952 or 1 June 1946. Finally, I was told to change the wall placard values to these: Edited 8 hours ago by -Rudel- 1 2 https://magnitude-3.com/ https://www.facebook.com/magnitude3llc https://www.youtube.com/@magnitude_3 i9 13900K, 128GB RAM, RTX 4090, Win10Pro, 2 x 2TB SSD, 1 x 15TB SSD U.2 i9 10980XE, 128GB RAM, RTX 3090Ti, Win10 Pro, 2 x 256GB SSD, 4 x 512GB SSD RAID 0, 6 x 4TB HDD RAID 6, 9361-8i RAID Controller i7 4960X, 64GB RAM, GTX Titan X Black, Win10 Pro, 512GB PCIe SSD, 2 x 256GB SSD
